The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Rude boy leaves Leicester.  9 full weeks after their relegation. He must have more sacking money than Allardyce & Steve Cooper combined.

Rob Edwards new manager at Middlesbrough. That will probably define if his real self is the one that got Luton to the Prem or the one that put them in the Championship relegation zone.

... & Brentford DO give it to Keith Andrews. Now we'll find out.

It'd be a shame if this reverses them, along with a couple of their best being poached by the big bully boys. I predict he'll be gone by Easter.

Sure I heard/read somewhere that they didn't want to get rid until next month so that they don't have 2 payouts in the same PSR period. Seems bizarre to have waited that long then done it 4 days before the new period.

yep, plus they may still be getting an FFP points deduction, so I don't see anybody new coming in, until they know the result of that

I can't think of anyone in football I'd rather see fail than that bloke.

Nowt against Brentford, they've done amazing work these last 10 years but they'll always be a division 3 team in my mind.

It seems a strange one to me but Matthew Benham doesn't often get decisions wrong

Flipside of that is it's the first managerial appointment Brentford have made in 7 years, and Benham has never appointed a manager to take over a Prem team unless he's been at other clubs. So unproven really. This could be a Sammy Lee type appointment.

Aye

Most clubs that surprisingly do well for a PL team, and I include us that, will get relegated eventually

This could be Brentford's turning point

I haven't checked this but I'm told

Looks like by the start of the season there’s gonna be one manager in the Championship who was managing the same club in the second tier at the start of last season.

That's the guy at Pompey

That's remarkable.

WTF is going on at Forest? Looking the best they've been since the days of Cloughie and it looks like the bubble might be about to burst the bubble?

Big Ange in...

I hadn't heard anything about this, so just had a read.

All a bit strange. This new Edu fella may have rocked the boat, but its all a bit strange.

Read that the manager wanted a particular player, Edu disagreed and brought in someone different and the manager told to deal with it

Looks like this or something similar.    Guess it started with his pre season interview saying they were way way off where he wanted to be.

Erik Ten Haag lasts 3 matches (2 league games) of his 2 year deal at Bayer Leverkusen.

That's spectacular.

I'm never going to feel sorry for him but good grief. It's got to be a no-football matter.

Anyway 2 years compensation on top of his pay-off from Stretford. Must be like £30m. Damn tax-man.

Is it possible that there is some sort of "cooling off period" that has been used, thus saving on such a big compensation package.

Most things are possible, of course, but in a 'fixed-term contract' notice and termination rights are usually baked in.

The terms tend to be reciprocal. So, if you're confident you've captured a real prize, you'd be as keen to prevent them easily walking out on you as you are to reduce any rip-off termination fee if they turn out to be shite.

We hear a lot about 'rolling contracts' with a 12 months roll-over. But this with Leverkusen was only a 2-year contract anyway.

Unless it's a Gross Misconduct matter which would allow termination with no compensation. But that would be severe.
