We went for been-there-done-it experience and how's it working out for us?

Without knowing Jack or having spoke to him I've no idea whether I'd give him a job, but apparently he is a promising coach. And as has been said, plenty of coaches have had their first job at a higher or equivalent level to where Luton are now and done alright.

After successive relegations and a bad start to this season my guess is that what Luton need more than anything is good vibes. Not some Richie Wellens type career lower league man coming in to call them all shit (which incidentally is also what SS did here).

Don't mistake this as I've got a downer on Wilshere or that I don't wish him well or accept he could be the next Kieran McKenna etc.  I'm just saying, Luton fans will be wondering why they're giving him his first job when other (proven) managers are probably available (don't ask me for names!).

The difference between us having a Wilshere and SS is that if Wilshere gets 3 points from 7 away games and loses cumulatively 5-0 at Northampton and Burton, fans would rightly or wrongly be questioning the appointment - because he's got no track record to back him up.  Same as the Huddersfield manager,  Andrews at Brentford, Dodds at Wycombe, fans (and the board?) will have less patience and be quicker to question the appointment.

I just think it's a far bigger risk to bring in an unknown mid season when you need to get your season back on track - that's when you ideally want a been there done it type of manager

I'm all for giving unknowns a chance, I just reckon you're best of giving them the job in May/June when they have a full preason to go at

Didn't realise Gretar Steinson was technical director at Leeds.

Was in the odds for the Rangers job.

Funny how it's hard to call when they're players.

Sounds like Evatts getting a little frustrated being out of work so long and finding nobody seems to want him. Surely if he was getting the Blackpool job it’d have been done now? Maybe he’s not as sought after as he thought he was after all?

They need a proper Walter Smith type hard nosed realist, not another hipster theorist.

I can see any fan of another club thinking he's a good manager with a decent track record. Coz they don't see him in 3D.

I can see unknowing club officials viewing him as a possibility. However, the slightest delve into the guy & they'd run a mile.

On his personality - A preening narcissist with huge gambling debts, which once bailed out he simply built again. The legal cases by some very difficult specimens. The womanising. The dick pic. Amy.

On the footballing side - The constant Mr. Angry touchline behaviour.  Football as turgid as I've ever seen. The wasteful spending. The persistence with a system that was rumbled. Mocking fans who wanted 'a plan B'.

He survived by the fantastic faithfulness of his chairwoman.

This would scare off even the most naive of people.

I'm sure I've forgotten some*.

*I did. ... turning up to training less & less. Then, in that absence, the unprofessionalism of some of his players who turned training into free-for-all & timewasting.

Was all down the chairman apparently who really doesn't like him.

The fans were far from convinced either.

Think his reputation and persona has caught up with him. So much so he's not even loved at Blackpool anymore.

Bloomfield interviewed really well apparently and was back there yesterday.

Evatts not even had talks.

Aye, his born again Christian stance may have pulled the wool over Sharon's eyes but if we think we know all about his off field antics I suspect others in the game will too

Whilst most fans in L1 and L2 seem to hate him as well

Aye and given most of his fruitful lifestyle was lead over these parts it's probably harder for him to get away from.

He was still prowling about Lytham in the summer.

Walter Smith was having a meal in the Northumberland arms near Alnwick in Autumn 24, he was probably as disappointed as us because it was a Sunday dinner or nothing.

And it was ok but nowt special.

I also like to spend time in Lytham in the summer but have never seen him, although i did see Dave Lee Travis in Lytham this summer, he smiled and said hello.

Mate of mine saw him in Blackpool a couple of weeks ago. He (IE) was on his own getting shitfaced in a bar

Mate is a Blackpool fan so goes talking to him but IE waa more interested being on his phone trying to get people to come out and join him and not having much luck

Evatt's won more as a coach than Wellens, Bloomfield, Appleton, Richardson, Wilshere and countless other names that get thrown around whenever a vacancy arises. That he can't even get an interview at Blackpool speaks volumes about his reputation in the game.
