The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Jim Radcliffe has announced that Amorim deserves 3 years to get the project sorted. Excellent news.

As much as I love watching Manure struggle, it saddens me to say that I reckon Amorim will turn them around given time. Took him a couple of windows to sort out Sporting but he did a superb job taking them from no-hopers to title winners and despite what we have seen recently, he’s widely considered a master tactician.

What does 'turn it around' mean in this instance? They finished 3rd and won the FA Cup as recently as 2023. That would look a major turnaround now, but only because he's done an unimaginably rubbish job so far.

I don't think there's any chance of him doing that to be fair. A master tactician who can only play one way?

Difference is here is they are already behind a conglomerate of sqauds in their way.

They aren't replacing Arsenal, City, Liverpool or Chelsea in the pecking order anytime soon.

Those 4 have just as much cash are years ahead in sqaud depth and talent.

He hasn't got the time to turn it around.

He could try a different approach tailored to his pool of talent to buy himself time and get results, but he won't, he's welded to 5-2-3 and would need 4 more windows to even begin to compete and even then that system is flawed a beaten easily with a high press and packed midfield as we all know already.

He'll be gone in Jan.

He’s a fraud, and long may his stubborn arrogance continue to make relegation a more likely possibility than a title.

Any manager that sets up with Eriksen and a fat Casemiro in a midfield two against Newcastle’s Joelinton, Bruno and Tonali should be sacked on the spot. Thank god they didn’t as it’s hilarious to watch.

Edit - he has found a way to win his relegation 6 pointers though against Burnley and Sunderland, which seems to be enough for them to cling onto, so fair play for that achievement.

thinking maybe Ratcliffe realises constantly chopping and changing

6 managers full time since Ferguson left, Solskjaer had the longest with 3 seasons, the rest had 2 or less

then you look at the top 3

Liverpool - ok, Slot's second season but Klopp was there 9 years, only one title but they got miles better under him

Arsenal - Arteta - no trophies in 6 years, but he's made them miles better

Pep - 9 years - everything

someone, at some point, at utd, needs a good stint and go at it

utd's biggest mistake was letting businessmen over rule Dan Ashworth

Zero interest in Man Utg.

Bit chicken an egg though - if you give a shit manager time they'll still be shit. The managers you've mentioned have been given time at their jobs because they're good, they aren't good because they've been given time.

Yeah I just think after years of chopping and changing it might be worth giving a manager some time

It's worked for the top 3, arteta yet to really deliver, but they're getting better every season

If they sack him they'll just end up with another no mark like Pochettino

Satsuma news.

Bloomfield was interviewed at Bloomfield yesterday. Touch of nominative determinism at play possibly.

The chairman doesn't like Evatt.

The fans want Wellens.

Luton want Wellens.

Nobody likes you either but they generally don’t feel the need to bang on about it to massage their egos.

Wolfgang Wolf used to manage Wolfsburg.

Jimmy Armfield will be the next Liverpool manager

Stevie Me has told Rangers he doesn't want their poxy job in the Farmers League. (OK, not those precise terms).

Funny though.

Also, in case you didn't thing big Ange wasn't really in trouble at Forest

Nottingham Forest will consider Sean Dyche as a replacement for Ange Postecoglou should they decide to part with their under-pressure head coach.

Bumped, almost literally, into Steve Cooper yesterday. It'd passed me by that he was now managing Brondby in Denmark.

Seems happy enough.

He didn't mention Burton, so that's a plus.

Jack Wiltshire next Luton manager
