Underpants
Who do you reckon have a consistently good away following? And who do you reckon fall short in numbers and should do better. The good Everton always show up. Spurs have always traveled in numbers. Before the Arab cash rolled in I always thought Man C did well away. Ipswich & Norwich always surprise me. Wigan. Considering their shiteness at home relatively they pull the numbers in away. Arsenal. Man U. Liverpool. Chelsea are hard to judge because of the overseas "fans" who jump on board. How they get tickets I don't know. Newcastle & Leeds do well. But being one team Citys you would expect that. So I'm not counting them. Sheff W away seem to be the most prolific of the two Sheffield teams. But both could be accused of being below par for the mundane fixture. The bad West Ham. All bark and no bite. Sheff U need to up their game. Burnley & Blackburn. Both should do better. Derby. They show up for a Boxing Day match but they should do better for the run-of-the-mill fixture. Forest are of a similar mould. And us, Bolton. I reckon we should do better.

Site Supporter desperado Posted October 1, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted October 1, 2023 @tomski is going to love this thread 🤣 Very harsh saying we should do better! Even though I’m not against a crowd/attendance discussion, it’s more than just numbers. Taking our numbers out of it (although I think recently in the lower leagues it’s been excellent!) the quality of our support in terms of; passion, volume, loyalty, age-range, demographic, backing and commitment, all during a cost of living crisis, has been fantastic! I think splitting away fan groups up into good/bad purely based on one number formula is daft.

captainmed
You’re wrong about West Ham. Apart from the obvious teams, they always brought big followings to Burnden & Reebok - more than Spurs, Arsenal & Chelsea at times. Travel in massive numbers. Johnnyrotten
For middle sized clubs, Cardiff, Birmingham and Coventry always seem to take more away than I'd expect and create a good atmosphere.

You’re right re Brum. Coventry have had a big resurgence lately, same as Boro. Cardiff are poor travellers though.

I got a ban from their message board (KUMB) for saying their away support was poor. And it was when they played us and I supplied a photo with my comment. Them and a few more 'local' clubs.
