Mr Evatt signed 6/7 players at the start of the season, only one is a regular. only Baxter. Im sure that tells a tail how poor our recruitment as been. Having said that, we are quite capable of promotion in what must be the weakest league 1 in years. That 1st 10 minutes was the best ive seen from a Bolton team, after that, well! We signed a number of players, but some of them weren't necessarily meant to be immediate first team picks. Others have had injuries, and that notwithstanding, all have to earn and then keep a place. It doesn't mean they were poor signings at all. We've got a lot of games to come, and we can expect to see more players getting game time.

December 23, 20232 yr Sat between an Australian and a lady from San Francisco. Both had never watched Bolton before. That's what Shazza and Ian have done. Massive group hug at the final whistle. COYWM

But in 45 years of watching us that's pretty much the only other example I can bring immediately to mind. Well remembered, 8 minutes it was. I wonder when we last went 3 up in 10 minutes in a match that Pratley didn't play!

Lad on right wing didn't get into it all first half but was a real handful after the break, shredded Iredale a couple of times, was threatening to score his second till a superb tackle from Forrester

Of course if you concede, then the win is harder. However, I reckon today was a touch of complacency creeping in after the start- and as I said before, and Evatt has now stated, we didn't react well enough to their changes. For that, I still feel he has to look at his own methods as well as that of the players. Perhaps an example of where an experienced on head, off the bench, could be useful. As they saw with Pratley. Absolutely. Although in the same vein, I thought our oldest and most experienced head did a cracking job leading the line when he came on with 10/15 left! Big 3 points in the circumstances. We'll be reyt.

Baxter - Starter Cogley - Starter Maghoma - Started more than often Forrester - great signing, got a bright future Coleman - decent 2nd keeper Ashworth - potential, need to see more, but certainly not poor Nlundulu - was showing some potential as young 4/5th choice striker How is that poor recruitment?

Not disagreeing with any of that. Was just responding to @frank_spencer saying Jerome should be "nowhere near the pitch". Just sticking up for him, as someone has to play up front and we can only pick from the players we have, and can't flog JDB and Charles for 95 minutes every 3 days.

Agreed. Recruitment has been decent this summer. We've only had one bad window in the last 4 seasons (Jan this year) so I think they're doing a decent job, to the point where we've almost certainty got the best squad in the division. It's what we do with that squad now that matters, and where I'm a bit more critical. But having said that, it's 3 points to stop the rot and results have gone for us as well. Great pre-christmas result
December 23, 20232 yr He might come good but I think it's very generous to argue that the signing of Nlundulu's been a good bit of business so far

Plenty gaps and a very flat, pre-Christmas atmosphere. Was always going to be today, not complaining, but certainly wasn't one of our better turn outs this season.

Half expecting a Klopp/Delia style response from Evatt, which IMO wouldn’t be unjust. But probably very unwise with the fragility of watching fans these days. I’m always non-plussed with fans who won’t join in with a positive backing of the team, yet they are very vocal when things aren’t going great and players make mistakes.

Guess lots of season ticket holders away or christmas shopping.

December 23, 20232 yr Aye 2nd half was tedious, shame because that first 10 minutes was fantastic. 3 more points though and we go again. So close the top 8 now

December 23, 20232 yr 3 points Worth remembering that the other team are allowed to play as well, whatever the level. Some folk only get bonk ons from picking faults. Some of us actually enjoy the wins.
