I’m suprised at the level and inconsistency of some of the in-game and post game criticism.

Saturday - lost, we were poor, didn’t match the opposition, individuals not doing their jobs, criticism deserved

Last night, battled, worked hard, got the crucial goal, found a way (not the usual way) in shit awful conditions and we WON!

Yes it’s a forum and just because we won doesn’t mean we can’t debate the game and individuals blah blah blah. But some of the negative over-analysis of players passing, abilities and application in last last nights 50mph winds, as if we all of a sudden we have become a bunch of underperforming pre-Madonna’s, is way over the top.

Think some need a reminder of our current league form. We’ve won 5 out of the last 6.

Happy Clapper

Personally, I’m seeing a squad that’s been busy and is grinding out results when previously these are games we wouldn’t have won.

For me, that’s an improvement and when I look at the league table - which never lies - I see a team that’s won more games than any other.

Some of the criticism is batshit mental and deserves ridicule.

I love it when we win

You do realise this doesn’t make you special and the majority on here feel the same.

Your simply stating the obvious.

Im very much in the not bothered as we won camp and am happy we kept the defeat on Sat to another isolated result.

That said people are entitled to call a bit out without the need of your one trick sarcasm retorts.

I don’t mind the tag. I take it as a term of endearment 🤣

Lots know me on here. And while I’m most definitely on the far side of the positive scale (life’s too short to drown yourself in negativity over your football team - it takes the enjoyment away), I’m realistic enough to know when they deserve criticism and calling out - didn’t have an issue Saturday.

But some of the criticism I’m reading about the players and style of play from yesterday, is tunnell vision, not taking into consideration a whole bunch of other external factors.

But we won.

Football is about winning and fine margins, it’s not luck we have won 5/6

The manner of the performance can still be analysed can’t it?

regards the conditions there’s also another team who played and they seemed to adapt to it ok

for me we’ve looked sluggish for a while, yes form suggests otherwise and we got the points but can you honestly say if we don’t improve for next month the likes of Barnsley will brush us aside

Think folk genuinely forget this is level 3 football. Im guilty of it myself.

Not every ball is going to stick to feet or find the perfect pocket of space.

Any football at this level will be a tough watch especially in the middle of a storm.

That's how I saw it.  Flag didn't go up and we were all saying "has the ref given the offside there?".  Linesman then put it up, pretty sheepishly I imagine. Having seen it a few times I still can't see an offside.

I’m not sure what the offside rule is regarding interference, but 2 Cheltenham players behind the lad who scored were offside, the ball didn’t reach them but they occupied our defenders and could that be construed as interference? I’d be gutted if it was disallowed for us. For me it was a goal.

Like I said of course it can be discussed and debated, that’s why we are here.

Number of debates in play here.

One of my points is that there’s negative over analysis of players in one game where too many external factors are at play. Look at form rather than in isolation.

Of course some dealt better with the conditions than others. I agree with you, the stand out was Baxter, he was immense. But as a collective they managed it really well, they won, got the crucial goal and kept another clean sheet.

The future is another debate altogether. I won’t lie, I’m concerned. Injuries and suspensions are mounting up. I’m putting a bit of faith in the management, recruitment and substance of the squad that we can cope, but I’m not sure. I’ll stay positive and hope I’m right.

I realise I don’t give a fuck.

to be fair, Twitter makes this place seem calm and measured.

If we were bottom half of the table and spiralling I’d be on board, but our team is competing at the top of the league and the players are giving everything they have twice a week to stay there.

Its a big ask, I think we can all be reasonable enough to accept that it can’t be Harlem Globetrotter football every single time.

Do you mean the “straight ball” from Santos that resulted in the only and match-winning goal tonight?

No way does Santos get the assist for that goal. It needed their defender to trip over the ball first.

Last night wasn't pretty, nor was Saturday at Orient, but on points per game we're still top...
Bolton 2.077
Peterborough 2.037
Portsmouth 2.00
Barnsley 1.926
Derby 1.89
Oxford 1.815

A win at Carlisle takes us 2.11ppg and losing to/at Orient isn't exactly a disgrace right now...

Great to see we’re up there. We’ve got a few of the in form teams coming up… Wigan will be licking their lips.

Regarding the future this window for me could be a defining moment for FV, it may sound OTT but we will struggle to finish in the top 2 with the current squad and injuries (nothing has suggested FV won’t back IE btw)

End of feb will give us a good indication imo we will be stretched to the max and the games get harder

This window is now absolutely massive, we need another striker possibly 2 , midfielder and ideally 2 defenders.

Fucking comically bad at the back at times last night but we won so all is good.

Winning when not playing well is a positive thing if it doesn't become relied on.

GT looked like he was running through treacle by the end of the game he was one of the few I thought did ok. Baxter the other one he kept them out often hindered by his back 3.
