Site Supporter Spider Posted January 24 Site Supporter Share Posted January 24 Huge plaudits to Evatt, FV and the scouting system for Nathan Baxter who did what he’s paid to last night. It’s what goalies are for.
Lostock Whites
We definitely need a push with some additions in. Still worried that we've got to play away most of the top 8/9, Barnsley, Stevenage, Blackpool, Peterborough, Derby, Northampton, even the pie eaters which is always a cursed game for us. Lots of big games to come and it's going to be tight. But we're more than capable, in fact we've only lost 2 games against the top 9 teams. It's all in our hands, but the focus now is to get our squad in the best possible position and keep finding a way to win games. Starting with Carlisle on Saturday and avenging that horrible reverse result. They'll be up for it, as every team is against us, but we have to show that we want it more on top of our quality, we will win!

Disgusting performance and if we don’t add 7-8 players by next week we’ll be lucky to finish mid table. Baxter just got lucky because the wind blew every shot straight at him and Victor was clearly trying to square the ball and it spooned into the net. I have returned my season ticket. If I had a season ticket I'd do the same. 5 wins in the last 6 league games is not promotion form. Evatt's clueless, get him sacked.
anewman
1 hour ago, Mounts Kipper said: I’m not sure what the offside rule is regarding interference, but 2 Cheltenham players behind the lad who scored were offside, the ball didn’t reach them but they occupied our defenders and could that be construed as interference? I’d be gutted if it was disallowed for us. For me it was a goal. Was right in front of me, long was stood in an offside position when the ball was kicked and blocked our defenders running back to try and clear. obviously a training ground routine that they never got away with
Ani
2 hours ago, Leyther_Matt said: The ref will have spoken to the linesman on their headsets to check if such and such was offside. Linesman will ask if he was interfering with play. Ref says yes and flag goes up. Think the ref went over just to double check. The disallowed goal was very much like one we had disallowed v Luton. Although Lino does not raise his flag but he does stay in same spot after the goal, rather than running back to the half way line. Imagine there is then communication with ref which could be 'big lad in middle did not get goal but was obstructing a defender, do think he was interfering?' Ref decides yes hence the offside. I think we are lucky to get goal but think the 'process' was ok as I did against Luton when it went against us.

Other results helped too. Yes it was windy but with 3 centre halves we should be winning and clearing long balls a lot better. Santos seemed more bothered with being physical so the ball drops and it becomes scrappy, Toal seemed slow to pass and Iredale 3 or 4 silly pushes that gave them free kicks. Add in losing Lego head for 2 games, Williams for a few and maybe Dempsey it was far from a great night. Let's see what next few days brings in terms of transfers as we need some fresh bodies in. CambridgeBWFC
1 hour ago, Mounts Kipper said: This window is now absolutely massive, we need another striker possibly 2 , midfielder and ideally 2 defenders. Issue is our current registered players, I make it we only have one squad place free for someone 21+, can sign unlimited under 21s, and this may be direction. But we currently have 21 registered players, all 21 or over and not including GK. The league 1 limit is a squad of 22, not including GK and under 21s. So whilst our squad is small, recruitment may not be what people expect if calling for experienced heads. Unless we get rid of some, or deregister any injured players (if we can)

mattbwfc19
a win is a win, but we played shite and got very lucky in the end but come the end of the season the only thing that matters is we got the three points, which we did. Baxter motm Thought Cheltenham were a lot better than the table suggests, and they have beaten Portmsouth and Oxford this season, quietly confident they can get a result at Derby this weekend. onto Carlisle
Eddie
Be fucking boring on here if the only comment you can make when we win is “we won, move on”. I’m very much in the ‘result is the most important and the 3 points outweighs everything from last night’ camp - but I still find it interesting to discuss the match, whether it be the positive stuff or stuff that can be improved. Obviously people will go further one way or the other, whereas some will sit in the middle, it’s life. People will also get caught up in the moment and focus on one game rather than the bigger picture, it’s the irrationality that supporting a football club brings on. I love reading anything to do with us when we’ve won / watching highlights and WW gets most of my attention because there are few other places where analysis and views are as in depth / generally reasonable. Long live the debate in my eyes, if that means dealing with views you don’t agree with then it’s all part of the fun.

noxid
Saw them at their place when we won 3-0 and they were toothless and naive but they were on top when the game was sadly postponed and for large parts of the game last night. They seemed stronger, taller and fitter and I put that down to the two Luton matches where we were brilliant but draining. But we would have lost that match two seasons ago. Hope Dempsey is ok and worried Santos is carrying a knock as he has been average since getting clattered in the Orient game. Still rather be in our position than any other team. On here though you tend to get a very good middle ground with great debate. Although I’m well aware my “positive” outlook is well known on here 🤣. But I can read the room. I saw @radcliffe white and @captainmed on Saturday in that there London and I think if I’d have come out with anything positive they would have quite rightly lynched me! 🤣

We achieved this last night so all good to me. Plenty to scrutinise though.
