The very point I made previously. 

As unlikely as it is, if they were drawing and the game ticks on, then there is the chance that subconsciously they start to settle for what they have.

A risky mindset at that point.

It makes our situation clearer though: just go and try to win the game. That's the only thing that gives us a chance, so there is no mixed thinking nor tactical approaches that can yield the same success.

Exactly. Said it before, but just imagine the scenario that we play a weakened team, get held and Derby lose... Whilst unlikely to happen, it could and if it does, folk are chasing Evatt out of town with pitchforks and torches.

Great result and whilst the performance second half was a bit dire in general the effort and desire of the players was superb. Just check their faces at the final whistle- they were knackered and relieved.

I expect Bolton to beat Posh and as we have seen sometimes this season, when the latter lose they can sometimes lose big. If we take this as job done already then we are fools. Carlisle are bringing a (for them) massive 2,000 to Pride Park and they are going to try and put on one last performance and claim one big scalp in the process. If we relax and they score and Bolton are also winning then that GD-winning thread is suddenly looking very thin and fragile.

We need focus in this game and once again an early goal to settle things down. I say we go at them first half to try and put the game to bed early. I don’t want to see us trying to play out a draw. It’s just too risky.

You can almost taste it- but we need one last push from the team and fans.

Can you play the same team on Saturday please because if nothing else it will put the frighteners under Derby. Whilst it’s unlikely Carlisle will do them you just never know in football. We’ve all been there, games we needed to get a result in but the longer it goes the more the pressure increases. A 3-0 win for Wanderers against your reserves and Carlisle pop in a 95th minute winner would go down very well in North Lancashire. ?

My take on it:

I wouldn’t play anyone who is injured or not 100% eg don’t rush back Santos if he’s not fully fit.

I would start Dion, to get some more minutes into him.

I wouldn’t rest anyone to save them for the play offs, as it would mean they’re going into the first leg having not played competitively for 2 weeks.

In summary - play the strongest fit 11.

Evatt has always been consistent in putting out strong teams in the cup, even int he early rounds, I don't think it's in his DNA to not want to win

I'm sure he won't risk any 50/50s but also sure we will have a strong team out.

I can't imagine Evatt will play a weakened team - he has to focus on our game and the whatever happens with Derby happens. Sure there is the risk of injury, tiredness, suspension etc but there's always that risk. Plus it can be argued that going into the playoffs on a winning streak is a positive. Like I said on the Derby site, we just need to focus on our game and our results and I'm pretty sure Evatt will think the same.
