Thinking About the midfield bastard we need

IE did seemingly have two targets last summer, Baccus from St Mirren and that German bloke, neither of which came off

From what I found about them they were the kind of enforcer we need in the middle so he was looking for one

When they didn't come off seems we've ended up trying to play GT in the role, a player we were going to sell

I know he's not an enforcer but there must be a reason why he went out and got cards 50% of the time and perhaps distracted from doing what he's best at which is spreading the play with his range of passing

Anyway

Number one target for me and then we need to plug the gap left by Magohma

So two big signings in midfield required, I  don't mean big money, but players that will have a big impact on how we play and help resolve the issues of this season

Baccus has signed for Mansfield Town today...

He is decent at this level, they also signed a guy who played 42 times for Pompey in last season or so , a midfielder who played week in week out at Northampton and are linked with a couple on way out at Sheff Weds.

Steve Evans you would think has been given promises of some £££ support to make the jump back there when Stevenage were doing ok.

I’d challenge that he’s decent at this level, he must be the only Peterborough striker not to leave for millions since Ken Charlery.

If you definition of 'decent at this level' is sold for millions you are right 👍

If scoring 27 season before last and 31 2 seasons before that is a definition I am right. 😂👍😎

Ian Henderson and Will Grigg have scored more in L1 in recent seasons. Worth a punt?

He aint for shifting or its not his style of play..........Nothing will change. He is now saying it his the players mentality that needs changing.

Fuck off it is about reacting to how the opposition play. How the away manager know that on 60 mins you will take your two forwards off and replace them with two journeymen, and ater 65 mins your lwb will be replaced.

How the opposition manager tells his centre halfs to wait until Both Boltons wingbacks are up front then knock 60 yard balls  into acres of space run at Toal and come inside him because he is playing on the wrong side

So its all down to the players................ok

What are you going on about at half 6 in the morning?

Either there’s new info, in which case post the links.

Or it’s just more inane ramblings

Bolton Wanderers boss wants to improve key aspect of team | The Bolton News

Some of it is mentality.

But that's only part of the problem, as we all know.

Cheers

Is that fresh news? Or just regurgitated by the BN this morning using last weeks words and clickbait headlines?

Whatever the case, I get every syllable  Evatt says is going to be micro-analysed.

But for balance he’s not solely laying the blame on players mentality, he knows there’s more:

struggled to produce on the big occasion

trigger an extensive review

Ultimately we haven’t achieved our goal, so that means things have to change

We will figure out exactly what in due course

we came up short and let the supporters down

We do have to examine the reasons

It seems intentionally vague

That's what I thought.

But it will do it's job, get people clicking, get folk emotional, arguing, pulling out quotes to suit a debate.

And I'm accentuating that! 😫

God its going to be a long summer isn't it?

Need to get out in the beautiful sunshine.....

Whenever it was said, it is pretty frustrating. He's finally acknowledging mentality issues in the squad, which is good, but no acknowledgement of tactical issues in game when the opposition have us sussed and having a plan B.

Someone's said it on here already that he's a salesman, not a football manager, and I think that's spot on. He's helped galvanise the support and will do so over the summer, but the same issues will remain on the pitch.

A fair summary. While we needed to do something at 2-0 down what possibly went through his head bringing Vic and Jerome on to pull it back.

We couldn’t get the ball forward. Been said before but bringing Haaland and Mbappe on would of still seen us fire a blank.

Then leaving more forwards on ie collins just loses the balance of the team and there is not one single game we can look back to where this worked.

It doesn't look like a new statement (from what I could see behind the BNs firewall) just a rehash of stuff he said both before and immediately after last Saturdays game.

Bit lost this morning

this time last week….

I've booked a 3pm tee to make sure I'm away from all the cup final crap and avoid looking at Wembley for a while longer

A week on with all the emotion now fallen away, then while the buck stops with Evatt, he's also surrounded by football people.

The club isn't broken, we don't need major surgery but we do need 2 or 3 solid, no nonsense pro's capable of doing the ugly stuff.

Evatt and his staff have to be totally honest with themselves. If they can accept this and work with it, they've got enough credit to give it another go.

If it is totally against their principles, they have to walk

Good shout that, dog's going to be huffing and puffing as we're off a very long walk in the hills.

Drip fed news then to keep the natives quiet, while it calms down and decisions are made.
