All this shite about him being too focused on politics or too woke was pure nonsense. Perpetuated by people who really don’t have a clue. Ah right. Well I'll take my view from what I witnesed. Human rights, taking knee, lgbtq blah blah blah. A reasoned response to a few fuckwits on social media? Nah, a response to various American thought imports; not just from him. But, maybe I just dreamt it all- that's the only way I can I can conceive that I don't have a clue. Or maybe it's a typical response to anyone who expresses a view to the contrary- just issue insults and criticisms. "They're all thick, racist.. and on it goes". Self aggrandising snobbery. I don't like his football because it's insipid, boring & starts from a position of fearfulness & worries about the opposition rather than have them worry about us. I dislike him because he imposed a political aspect to football and played on the basis that any other view was evil. It's not.

Not been much else. Qualifiers and friendlies were a different kettle of fish.

I'm sure he can answer for himself without your assistance, but I cut off the nonsensical bits because I'm interested in the specifics. How can "witnessing Human Rights and LGBT" make you dislike someone? What exactly did Southgate do or say that was wrong/offensive? The obvious answer is - "I'm just against Human Rights and LGBT stuff, and Southgate isn't", but maybe TMGJ has a more nuanced explanation. barrycowdrill
The FA have a very clear pathway on how they want to deliver future managers. If that’s the plan then absolutely fine. Carsley is clearly in there with a similar approach to Southgate in mind. however, that doesn’t mean the plan needs to come in to action straight away and pretty much disregard any other contenders. Getting the England job used to be about working your way through, earning your stripes and proving you have deserved it. Just being around St George’s park and taking jobs through the different age ranks isn’t kudos enough. for me, there are more attractive options than Carsley. He’s had 1 tournament so far with the U21’s (granted did very well) but let him have another couple of tournaments where he is, if he does well again and demonstrates the last one wasn’t a flash in the pan then that’s when he should be in the conversation. It’s too soon right here right now FWIW I think Carsley will be in in the short term on a temp basis to cover the nations league. FA will take their time and it may be a good chance to put himself in the shop window. However not quite sure what impact he would make in that short time Edited July 16 by barrycowdrill
