Barnsley (H)

Matete is suspended after being booked a tackle tonight.

Any volunteers to play in midfield ?

Wow. Just read Evatt’s post match comments. Properly thrown the players under the bus. Including naming and shaming individuals. That will surely not go down well in the dressing room.

Just checking he didn’t accept any blame ? Everyone but him yeah ?

He's already lost the majority of fans, naming and shaming players will just speed up his exit. Even the ones not named won't be happy..... Its going to get messy.

He's here for the season.

We just didn’t defend balls down the wings that led to both goals and the picking up of runners in the middle was atrocious

What happens when you have no width and no midfield.

Absolute pathetic management. It was clear after 5 mins of the second half that was the problem.

Barnsley weren’t very good, we weren’t very good.. in all honesty it should have been a draw.

But we are not able or capable of playing out a game. Why? We are tactically inept,  the players on the pitch take no responsibility because they are either incapable or frightened..

A team is always a representative of the manager.. he is unable or unwilling to change anything because he doesn’t know how to. Therefore, the players just carry on in that rudderless way not knowing what to do.

It’s soul destroying!

Terrible player and tactical performances

Demanding high standards from the players then chucking them under the bus

Players not putting effort in when he's not there in training

Owner who backs the manager all the way

Most fans want him gone and losing interest

Play off places starting to slip away as we definitely aren't finishing top 4

This has the potential to become the messiest season we've ever seen

And we're not even half way yet

I'd say he already has.

Sorry but that's bollocks

“I am very frustrated,” he said. “First half was pretty good, I thought we had some good opportunities, scored a well-worked goal, Aaron has to score, it’s a simple opportunity and it has to be a goal but we know away from home in particular they are a dangerous team and they haven’t changed that much in that aspect.

Threw Collins under't bus there! no he didn't, he stated a fact

we were short in midfield but we tried to make sure that Josh (Dacres-Cogley) and George (Thomason) marked Phillips and Russell, their two most dangerous players, Carlos (Mendes Gomes) takes care of the six. George then passes on his man (Phillips) to Will (Forrester) for no reason and he runs off the back of both of them and we concede a crazy goal.

Proper threw Tomo under the bus there! again, stating what happened, it's been said on here how bad he was today.

I'd like Evatt out btw but I'm not joining in the witch hunt

Think I'll give tw@tter a miss for a bit

I think it's fair to say all is not well but that's standard when a team is struggling but doesn't necessarily mean he's lost the dressing room..... Was good to see McAtee rant back at him today, at least it showed one of them isn't prepared to just accept the malaise.

Call it what you want but he's calling out individual's mistakes that cost us the game

It’s impossible to control a game without central midfielders. Evatt made a choice to get rid of Morley and not reinforce that area, complete madness. We ended up with one midfielder on the pitch and he was absolutely diabolical.

Our games are now basically attack vs defence. We have no control of games like we used to, atleast you could see what we were trying to do the last few years. Evatts head has completely and utterly gone and the board need to get rid ASAP or things are going to turn nasty.

He won't lose the one's he signs in January, or the one's he picks every week presumably.

If there are some that he falls out with, presume they will either be sold in January or just not picked.

Doesn’t call any of his own mistakes out though does he? I think that’s because he doesn’t see any. He thinks what he’s doing is correct and it’s all on the players.

First half given the players we had out was quite pleasing.

Second half from moment they came out it was clear they had upped the tempo and our shortage in midfield just became more and more obvious. The number 50 they bought on just ran the game.

For the second game on the run a player has missed an open goal, it was just another thing Collins did badly.

Agree with all of that, apart from the bit about it should have been a draw.  A point would have been as flattering as our win against Blackpool.  Barnsley weren't playing like Brazil but I thought they were decent, better than any performance we have produced this season apart from Peterboro, and certainly looked better than Wycombe did last week.

But the reason the situation arose in the first place is because we handed it to them on a plate by defending nearer to the North Stand than the South!  I'm just staggered at how bad we've become at defending.

Hey, I am one of his biggest critics & very much agree that he's blown it, but you don't need that long a memory to think of work. My goldfish can manage that !

Barnsley were a tidy lot today, and apart from the two they scored they skied a couple of shots too, early on. Could have been much worse.

Considering almost all of our coaching staff are former defenders 🤔

I thought they were decent, at least going forward. Keeper was a bit iffy and defence wobbled a bit when had our good little spell up to the goal, otherwise they were quick of thought and movement, tried to get balls in behind us or across goal quickly and positively. I liked how they went about things.

I remember managers gone by that when it went bad, it turned toxic. This feels a lot different, fans have just given up. A few boos from the Nat Lofthouse Stand but that was it when the 2nd hit the back of the net, most just left.

The attendance figure of 22k was miles off, lucky if there was 15-16k on today.

The board have made their intentions clear that he’s here to stay, I don’t think the fans will be forgiving and flock back when they finally make the change.

When will they call time on his tenure, is anyone’s guess but the fact they haven’t done it yet and there are clearly things going on in the background, makes me think they never will and he may be here come the start of next season and see out his contract which is a frightening prospect.
