Barnsley (H)

Matete is suspended after being booked a tackle tonight.

Any volunteers to play in midfield ?

Lost in the match thread, why is an international striker who's scores in euro and w cup qualifiers wasting away on our bench.  It's the same every game. Training all week for a 15 minute appearance. What are we saving him for? Surely Charles is either on his way out or totally fallen out with Evatt.

I don't think this matters anymore, at some point this season,  each player has been responsible for not following/tracking back, all arrows point to the manager and his guys taking training

Don't even get mad at Evatt at this point and the yellow bellied shithouses we have for players. It's entirely on the board for ignoring the obvious and sticking with him..

But the whole notion of say going to a back 4, having 2 screening midfielders and just doing the basics to see the game out is lost to him. It’s almost like he sees it as a form of weakness to abort his “philosophy” even when that approach is now being consistently demonstrated to not be good enough. There is no pragmatism

this new wave of manager like IE and Russell Martin seem to think being this entrenched in a view gets you some kind of medal or higher standing in the game. When really alls it inevitably gets you is shambolic passages of play or defending, bad results then the sack

Being stuck with one approach and formation regardless of what personnel you have and only changing one player for another within that system isn’t in game management and a higher level of football IQ. It’s naivety, stubbornness and stupidity all rolled in to one

It's almost like it's "theoretical " football.

You know, this is how they think the game should be played so that's how it's going to be.

Professional football is a fucking hard nosed business and requires a healthy dose of pragmatism.

Results are everything and managers stand and fall on them.

Flowing football is bloody great, but really all we want is to win games.

Leave Evatt there, and waste the season then?

Get rid now, and even if we don't then achieve the goal of promotion, it gives the new chap time to assess and plan for next season.

Unfortunately the season as gone the transfer window will be about shifting some dead wood and may be seeing if that sports agency were tied up with can find some diamonds .
Like evatt said this week most of the enquiries are done say for example if we have a offer in for Victor a new manger might scupper it and decide he wants to have a look at every one let him move the needle and see what happens after Jan . Evatt is finished at the end of the season

So you put a manger in with 7 days notice then expect him to Turn like you said a spineless squad around in a transfer window? No leave evatt there and don’t waste the money and bring someone in tail end when we’re mid table let him sell a few of them if possible in Jan

Where’s the sense in that? No way are we out of the play offs and most believe we do have the makings of a good squad, what we don’t have is a manager who can use it. Get rid now and if we still don’t make the playoffs so be it but sticking with Evatt we know we don’t make it do what have we to lose?

He should of gone after Oxford then aftet s poor start then again Stockport was the last opportunity.
The club as since been building for the Jan window to me it’s to late we have missed the opportunity to get rid to sack him now after loosing to Barnsley is pointless

First sentence is correct, but better to rectify that now than keep chasing your losses.

Captain set the scene with one of the most incompetent midfield displays in the history of football

we have a good squad ? A lot of bottlers and injury prone players Dempsey farino tute ect constantly 8 or 9 not available at anyone time we need a clear out . Though I want evatt out it’s not all on him

Considering its only a couple of days since he was giving the BBC both bartells and talking about HIS fans, he was down the tunnell pretty sharpish today, without giving HIS fans a chance to show their appreciation.

Just what I think too. Their product is being damaged.

A fine pint of cask pale ale from Titanic brewery in Stoke. Their Plum Porter is exceptional 👍

If these Pound shop Peps couldn't see how foolish it was to try and copy him with far inferior players you would think the penny might drop now he's getting his arse handed to him most weeks and blaming injuries (sound familiar?) with half a billion pounds worth of players on the bench.

It is very good. And warming, had a few pints a couple of weeks ago and it gave rosy (face) cheeks I can tell you.

Match was so shit I'm not commenting further. Apart from to say that at our shittest (this afternoon I mean) not one of the players played fuck with a fellow clueless spineless player that I could see. No arms pointing, no bollockings meted out, nothing.

I am struggling to think of a scenario in which keeping a poor manager getting worse, instead of recruiting a better one, is good for the immediate or longer term future of the club.  And when there's a transfer window opening its even more the case.

He’s too stubborn to move away from rotating the strikers rather than finding his best eleven and sticking to it.  If I was any of the strikers, I’d want away with never getting an opportunity to get a decent run to build confidence or get any momentum.

It also effects the rest of the team, it was like the players had never met each other before today, particularly on the final third, and changing it every week can’t help.

Players turning up in these Cavani Suits really pisses me off!

It will be fans not turning up soon, and that wil piss everybody off.

Same fucking shit week in week out. It’s tedious and a massive effort attending. I never remember such a flat atmosphere for a Boxing Day fixture.

The fans have given up on him. Still stand by that Oxford game rocking him and his bollockless squad to the core. They’ve never recovered.

He’d spend his money on gambling.

I've just spent Boxing Day watching the Scum get turned over by another set of horrible fuckers and it was lovely, especially sat around a so called set of "supporters".

But another teams demise will never compensate for a Wanderers win, ever.

Evett just isn't good enough, you need a manager who can make changes to make a change to a game, he just cannot.

I don’t think the board had any idea just how much damage that Oxford game did. To him, to the players, but more importantly to the fans. I can’t really think of 1 game that wiped off so much goodwill with a manager before (Megson Lisbon/Wigan maybe but he wasn’t liked like Evatt was before that).
