Ethan Hamilton is another former player of ours who got away and would do a cracking job, not that we would prise him away.

Thankfully, my comment was made in jest.

I know you didn't mention EH, I suggested it as another..

I was referencing your Mr Bean with the RPO, which reminded me of this clip FFS!

Bring back Cameron Jerome and Ethan Hamilton, getting promoted from L2 with a bunch of superstars, a new manager would sprinkle magic dust for promotion to the championship.

What has happened on here over night, have folk started on the sauce early for the New Year? 😂

That's the issue. We need a tough defensive midfielder alongside him so he doesn't keep getting battered

A team with three centre backs should not need a defensive midfielder!

It's quite worrying that we have 5 at the back and a dm, and aside from Matete, none of them can tackle well

Defending's never really been a priority for Evatt with his wing backs, which puts pressure on the wider two centre backs and drags Santos about, away from where he ought to be most of the time.

I don't also think (unpopular view I know) that our CBs are as good out and out defenders as the general view seems to be

The bit about needing a midfield hard bastard is, though, for me, more about looking after Sheehan but could be negated as an issue by playing him further forward, in behind the strikers, with the two 'double pivots' behind him, one who could stick around (prob GT) and one who could break forward (prob JM). Sheehan would cause far more damage and put himself and the team at far less risk if allowed to operate in the areas Mark Davies used to be good at, linking up closely with Collins and McAtee or whoever else is up front.

That's assuming of course we don't bring Maghoma back....

Totally agree Sheehan would be better further forward where he will have more time as a DM he’s too weak.

Change away from 3 CBs then. Sheehan needs protection and looks best for Wales in a 4231

Doesn’t a formation with a defensive midfielder read 4-1-x-x, rather like Premier League formation we had with Campo/Hierro about 20 years ago?

We should never have let Jason Lydiate and Paul Comstive go.

Evatt out. Warbies out. Foweraker out.

Not really. 4231 is a pretty established formation and both of the 2 don't have to be out and out enforcers. Pretty often one is more a ball player like Sheehan.

Here is Wales' last line up:

Man city play more the formation you're talking about with Rodri (now Kovacic) as the sole DM and the other 2 mids told to push forward.

Either way they're very small differences but the overall benefit of both would be having a proper DM and freeing up Sheehan from getting clattered whether he's in the 2 in DM or 1 of the 2 more attacking mids.

I do not see my view as extreme, the squad is full of very talented players and i would not swop another squad bar Birmingham  for ours.

How i would put Bolton at the moment is very alike The London Philharmonic Orchestra being conducted by Mr Bean

Once  he is replaced the din will stop and sweet music will once again ring out from the Toughsheet Arena

We do have some "talented" players, who I enjoy watching when they're on form (so not against top 6 or Wigan).  Fair to say more talent than most teams in L1.  We have very few "physical/tall/strong" players.  In many games physicality helps win the day.  I'm under no illusions that getting a new manager will mean this group of players will start to win the battles, its going to take longer than that to get the right players in.

Wilson's no enforcer either. Decent player.

The difference is that (i) Rodon & Cabango or whoever plays centre half aren't piss weak themselves and (ii) don't dilly dally passing it between themselves for 5 minutes at a time.

Been watching a fair bit of the SPFL highlights over the holiday period, plenty of time to kill 😄, one or two good young players outside the Old Firm catching the eye up there. James Wilson, young 17 year old striker for Hearts, certainly has a sharp eye for goal, David Watson for Kilmarnock an attacking midfielder that's looked handy last couple of times I've seen him.

Some knob ed on twitter saying Sunderland have tabled a bid of 4mil for Charles

Not a fucking chance

THIS is the issue. Tje inability to turn possession into pressure & all the while the opposition get time to get back & defend en masses. It doesn't matter how good the players are for the level.

That would be up there with Cardiff/Madine levels of stupidity.

Seen that, apparently for the 'Northan' Ireland international 🙈. Hardly the most reliable source I'd suggest

Aren’t there Two Charles currently playing for N Ireland?

I doth protest at a misquote!  For superstars read players capable of playing in L1 😀

On Hamilton, I know you've never been a big fan, I still (bizarrely) remember your mini rant at his lack of ability when we beat Lincoln 3-0 last season.  He had an equally anonymous game on Monday (we have enough players capable of having anonymous games, especially away).
