Sorry to hear about Ray French. Not really my game but his voice on Saturday afternoon Grandstand reminds me of my youth.

James Whale.

Can't say I know much about Whale, other than decades ago he was a bit controversial and often rude to guests.

Seems to have been appreciated though- others in the public eye have offered positive comments.

Norman Eshley , he played the snobbish neighbour Jeffrey Fourmile in George and Mildred amongst other roles.

Would normally pop up in Euston films productions as maybe a solicitor or a businessman or a bent detective.

He had the Late Night show on Piccadilly Radio.

In my college hols I had a job with an undertakers and was called out in the middle of the night to pick up a "bod"... got there and the family had called us before the doctor... Aye, top mon. "Hero" gets bandied about far too often but he was the real deal, and by all accounts a cracking bloke as well.
