Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 22, 2025 Posted April 22, 2025 A cult that looks down on contraception yet dictates that its ministers behave as one big, permanent contraceptive! Well, that's the official line of course. Anyway, all the best to him, wherever he's gone. The Falklands will still be British though. Quote

Saw him solo / with the Alarm several times over the years. Great performer. He bravely battled blood cancers for over 30 years and set up the Love, Hope, Strength charity to encourage more people to become bone marrow donors. He also raised £££ for charities and hospitals through various fundraising activities. Been seriously ill for the last 12 months after the cancer came back again with a vengeance, yet still found time to write new music and his biography. A life well lived. If anyone deserved a knighthood he did. RIP. Quote

Later saw Mike Peters solo a couple of times. Again, superb, and very open about his illness. Never quite got the credit he deserved imo. Lovely man RIP Quote

Remember staying up late watching 'Cheers' on the first telly I had in my bedroom when I was a kid. A black and white thing with manual channel tuners and a piece of wire for an aerial. Having to quickly switch it off when my parents walked up the stairs. He was always my favourite character. Norm!! Quote

Norm!! Quite a shock to see he was only in his early 30s when they were first making that series. Definitely one of the best sitcom characters of all time. Quote

jayjayoghani Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 My personal theory on people looking younger these days is growing up with central heating. Quote
Cheese Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Re-watched 'Cheers' recently, almost from start to finish, and it still stands the test of time. They jumped the shark with a few episodes when they left the pub, but the rest of it is ace. Quote

Took a while to see it through. But yeah, really stands the test of time. Norm’s one-liners consistently funny from start to finish. From the pics above, Cliff was almost on a par with Norm as being the best character Quote
