Next Manager

...and so it begins.

The lunatics are out in force already.

Sean Dyche or John McGinlay my favourites so far :D

After much indecisiveness and pressure, Sharon decides for her final 2 candidates, Gary O'Neill and Steven Schumacher to settle the matter via a trial by combat.

The trial takes place jn the middle of the pitch during half time in the game Vs Northampton Town in a giant Victorian Plumbing inflatable sink.

Winner to get the job as manager.

After a long fight of eachother using their best managerial stats and accomplishments, both die valiantly simultaneously.

Kevin Nolan sprints down the tunnel, ending his half-time team talk prematurely to claim the manager position.

Yet, the floodlights turn off, a sudden silence follows. The lights turn back on, yet Kevin Nolan has dissapeared and is replaced by a crazed Ian Evatt.

Evatt charges in the middle of the pitch into the inflatable sink, barging away Phil Heys the stadium announcer and local journalist Marc Iles who was reporting on the trial.

Evatt cashes in his Money in the Bank contract, which holds all of his receipts from over the years, taking back his job.

Evatt holds a microphone uttering the famous words, "Are you not entertained" Maximus Meridius style.

The Bolton fans tucking into their half time carrs pasties with pure desolation in their eyes.

Bolton change their shape and have 85% possession but losing 2-1 in the final minute

As long as we get commentary from JR and Jerry Lawler I'm down for that.

"Bah gawd, bah gawd Marc Iles is done broken in half, Ian Evatt is crazier than a pet coon"

I have wanted Evatt out now for about 16 months. He was the right person at the right time when FV took over,

Like Doyle, Sarcevic   Bolton grew  past these players and we started to move up the league.

Now he has gone we will finally move on.

He has left us with a lge2 squad circ 2021.......The year we spent in lge 2 in lockdown Evatt built Bolton around those players....................Jones, Santos and Thomason and Johnston all played in lge 2 for us....We have added Sheehan and Matete without fees that played in lge2 that season, 1.2 for Mcatee [Grimsby] 1.2 Randall [Exeter] Collins 750k [Exeter] Gomes 300k Morecombe, Williams 250 k [Exeter] all played in lge2 that season.

Baxter, Southwood, Forrester,  Firmino ,Lolos, Adeboyejo have never played higher than league one

Schon was a gamble from the continent and Cogley was picked up from the mighty Tranmere

Arfield had a great career but arrived her 5 years to late......We need a new manager and a re-build

You are such a fuckin Wanker .

I understand what you're saying Masi but don't forget that the mission statement from the start has been to sign promising players, hidden gems and to develop them for future sale. The current ownership lack the means to fund us indefinitely if we keep making big losses each year.

You can't sign a 33 year old from the Championship and expect to get millions back in return, likewise we can't afford a 24 year old prime Championship level player either, they're £3-£10 million a pop.

So we have to think differently, this means signing essentally former Championship and Premier League youth team members who dropped to this level and below, and around the time they start to come good, even if it takes them a few years. We swoop in and get them signed.

Johnston - Liverpool / Feyenoord

Collins - Wolverhampton

Baxter - Chelsea

Forrester  - Stoke

Lolos - Crystal Palace

Our mission has been to find players who've either slipped though the cracks or for whatever reason didn't make the grade at the time. We're basically gambling that these clubs made a mistake. Sure, we'll be proven wrong sometimes and those players won't be able to step up to the level we need, but we can't afford not to make these risks.

As I've explained a few times, this team even in our second year in League One was good enough to get promoted automatically. The problem was Evatt, if we'd just had a plan b, like we'd been asking for, we'd have turned a handful of those losses into draws and draws into wins. Few wanted to listen because they were under the Evatt illusion, where flashy victories against fodder blinded them to the 30+ points we kept throwing away each year.

Tuned in to see whether Schumacher confirmed….

What a strange direction the thread went! 😂

Some great work @DaveTheRave @Lt. Aldo Raine 👏

yes and i can take a lot of what your saying on board.........Evatt has made some great signings Both keepers

Santos from non league I think Forrester will have a great Career and Toal, Sheehan can be added to that list

He has also signed some bad players  for good fees i do not or want to name them.....A fair point put across a little better than the dogger above who wants to meet me in any car park in the ribble valley

Many players start life in lower leagues.

Players can improve, and respond to playing in better sides.

Ridiculous to suggest they simply can't perform at the required level, when a number did last season for us, or have previously.

The squad we have is unbalanced, but isn't devoid of quality.

We'll see, but Evatt had applied the handbrake over the last year or so, and now it's time to see what the new manager achieves with them.

If anything, Saturday shows they're raring to go, and the right person can tap into that.

Exactly this. His one-eyed, inflexible approach governed every aspect of our performance. Players forced out of position, made to play in ways uninstinctive to them. God knows what we failed to get from several of them.

Not working ? Abandon them & bring in another identical one. Like a kid ignoring his old toys for a new one.

Never bought anyone to fix the staggeringly obvious gaps in our squad. Like how my missus will go out for a pair of kecks & return home with a dress & pair of shoes. That's his 'buy wingers, then make them play wing-back' thing. Or identikit small, skillful, tidy midfielders when the enforcer option is what we needed. Randall may turn out to be a superstar but he wasn't what we needed.

He actively took the piss out of fans crying out for a 'plan B'.

I will always believe our out-of-the-norm performance at Barnsley in the play-offs was done by the players not him. He turned that around for the second leg & we damn-near blew it.

When Evatt-ball worked it was superb but Des Buckingham showed teams were working us out. This season more followed suit. He had no answer to it.

No rebuild needed....New formation certainly

Yes i would say any manager would of got that squad into the play-offs....with a promise to spend 3m in the summer and a further 1.5m in January......Would even include Evatt but for him being pig headed

No secret we need a Ball winner/Bastard who will rat and gee the team up.......Randall is quality but we do not need him at this time......yep just about right

I personally don't get all this Randall hate from some of our fans. The guy has only just arrived, has already got a goal and virtually set a couple up and is a no10 who's job isn't to be "a tough bastard".

I actually think we have more than enough physicality in the team, we shown it against Huddersfield. The likes of Matete,Thommo, Johnston, Forrester, Mcatee and even Schon are all aggressive players who get stuck in.

We will see what the new manager demands formation wise etc. and if he has time to bring in a player or two before the window closes.

But for me Evatt has left us with a very very gifted team, who's players would walk into nearly every side in League 1 bar Birmingham.

I have said all along that the squad is full of quality for this league, but have we built for the Championship year on year

Each of Evatts first four windows he certainly improved us.

It is only his money signings that i am a little critical and the positions he has brought in these players.

Evatt has gone now and i think the job out grew him.......Leave it at that

No hate from me on Randell he is a top league one player.......Is he worth 1.2m  only time will tell

It was just a head scratcher in that we needed players in other positions

I've long since wondered about that game and that performance, was the best we played all season but way out of character. Not unlike Saturday, lower risk, ball kept away from our area, quick transitions and longer balls to stretch and turn their defenders. In what looked like the toughest game of the season we murdered Barnsley for 70-odd minutes.

We hadn't seen it all season and haven't seen it since. You might be right.

Closer to £900k

I think he's looked fine, got himself into the positions and can make things happen

Yes should have had at least one at weekend, but they'll come

Looks miles ahead of Mcatee who fetched a similar fee

Why people continue to put an emphasis on transfer fees I’ve no fucking idea.

rationale on that went out of the window fucking years ago regardless of what league it is applied too. Plus, no one ever knows what the figures are.

the price of a player always has been and always will be what the selling club determine it to be. If you think it’s fair, pay it, if not, walk away. It all counts for fuck all in the grand scheme of things.

the squad we have has more than enough ability to walk this league. With many of them able to play in the league above. But the issue over the past few weeks / months hasn’t been their quality. It’s been their willingness to fight, work hard and play for the shirt.

any gaffer that comes in gets them doing that first and foremost will get them being successful. Simple as that
