Next Manager

...and so it begins.

The lunatics are out in force already.

Sean Dyche or John McGinlay my favourites so far :D

Really hope it works out for him.

  • We don't need a sentimental appointment here to put a fire out. Like said above, we are fully loaded and ready to go. It's actually a dream job for someone. Sqaud full of talent ✅️ Dece

Bless. Have you ever managed more than a barbecue ?

It's not only taken a week. It's taken since Oxford, arguably since Huddersfield, or Stockport, or Wigan. Certainly since before Christmas.

Haha, you gimp.

You said we look inept at not appointing a replacement within a week.

Whether he should have been sacked earlier is irrelevant.

Brain of a pea.

A dry peak.

A small one at that.

Don't try any crosswords. They could burst your brain.

I've admittedly not read the last 20-odd pages, so apologies for possibly repeating what others have said, but maybe the board don't want to announce the new manager until the window closes and he gets told to work with what should already be a good enough squad.

Not true Traf. I believe that tomorrow will see the new manager appointed and transfers commence (if he approves of the players already lined up)

And lost 3-1 to a team with an Under-18's manager. I love Nolan, but let him earn his stripes before he comes here.

That U18's manager had a set of players who cost upwards of £3.5m. Dunno what Nolan had to work with but Northampton's record signing was for £180k 20 years ago.

An under 18 coach with decades of experience in the game too.

More than any of the current candidates.

Neither points matter entirely though: Huddersfield in particular was a performance of relief, desire etc borne from the sacking of Evatt.

As for Nolan- I wouldn't entirely be convinced, but he does have plenty of coaching/assisting experience too, so who knows.

With the exception of a goalie, a full team then!

Ha, no the big focal point striker and strong midfielder who can tackle will do.

The pacy winger would just be to allow us to switch to a 433 easily, but tbh if you could get Collins playing off the left (or right as he's so both footed so can cut in either way) of a decent striker who can hold the ball up, then we should have enough options to cover the other wide attacking position in Schon, Tutu, Lolos, CMG (if ever fit).

The defence and goalie has plenty of options so no need to strengthen there.

We're so close to having a team that can really challenge with the right managerial appointment. Let's hope it gets done in time to add the players we need.

David Wagner name popping up again this morning, he could be an interesting pick

All conjecture, but it’s also worth bearing in mind it’s not just the manager, it’s his preference of staff as well. Evatt’s team has gone with him.

Perhaps there’s also the potential that some of the new back room staff to come are tied into contracts elsewhere? Stoke for example

Can still appoint the manager though.

If he's insistent on specific people, and they're wrangling over contracts, then at some point, the board have to look elsewhere.

Players are riding high at the moment, but I don't see a temporary manager, on a game to game basis, helping longer term.

Perhaps the delay is centred around bringing SS back room staff with him. I believe at least of them is in a job at Barnet.

There are so many things that could be holding up a deal, it could even be wage, transfers, budgets, coaches, all sorts.

I'm glad the club are keeping quiet about what's going on. One aspect of Sharon's tenure has been professionalism and that reputation can only help in future negotiations whether it's with players, managers or investors.

Managerial appointments, including backroom staff, are a massive undertaking and take time and the board are quite rightly not rushing into it, they need to get it as right as possible.

If only they'd known the January transfer window was closing on Monday when they were giving IE game after game after game, maybe they would have put the wheels in motion a bit sooner.

Has it? This tweet just links to the talksport website. There's no article.

'The hold up is believed to be around the assistant kit manager and his unavailability for weekend games'.

One for the conspiracy lot.

Robert Wagner was in Hart to Hart in the 80s. Neil on his  way back?

It was moider.

Stephanie Powers played his wife Jennifer, Paul Power played for City in the 80s, i reckon we must be getting John Bond or Billy Mcneill 🤔🤔

Yeh but Max who used the moider phrase was played by Lionel Stander. So maybe Messi wants to get his teeth into management??
