Port Vale (H)

What could possibly go wrong? Despite Darren Moore’s assertion that they are better than their league position suggests, all the signs are that they are there for the taking on Saturday and I can’t imagine any of us would not be disappointed with anything less than 3 points, especially after our recent heroics.

As the old adages go, it’s 11 against 11, any team in this league can beat any other team on their day etc etc…but we don’t want to think about that do we?

What we want to see is an improved performance, a professional attitude, a clean sheet, goals and a statement win that sets us up for the theoretically tougher run of games ahead.

Bring it on.

Back to the favoured league 11.

                          TSL

Cogley.      Toal.    Johnston.  Conway

               Sheehan.  Simons

   ACD.              Forss.            Tutu

                        Burstow

Bench: Miller, Forino, Taylor, Morley, Cissoko, Dalby, Randall

I’d be surprised if it’s any different. The only consideration I suspect would be the left hand side with Taylor/Cissoko.

That last sub is a tricky one between Christie, Randall and Dempsey. I’d like to see Demps, but I think he’ll stick with Randall.

I’m presuming it’s too soon for Erhahon, Gale and Mcatee.

Erhahon was doing a Q&A with SJM in the 1877 suite before the Huddersfield match and said he would be back for the Stevenage match but as that’s now postponed he has an extra week to recover so he can kick Sarcevic’s arse.

4-1

Burstow, Forss, Dalby, Toal

Come On You Whites!!!

Any win will do. Would be nice to get the GD up but I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 home win.

Me too. I think we’ve learned from the Burton away debacle and in the last couple of games we haven’t been so open, even at home, so I’m expecting a “professional” performance that gives them no chances and a platform for us to nick a goal or three. Any win.

This needs to be a win regardless of how it is achieved. The longer we preserve this unbeaten home record the more solid the base we are building. Same levels of focus and concentration as against Cardiff are required - that is how consistency comes about.

Any ESL spares today lads?

Think jimmy is away

give him a text

We'll score 7 goals today

Any kind of win please! 3 points priority.

I get the "any win will do/keep it solid" talk, but we've got the best home record in the division and we're playing a team that's not on form (and lost their last away at Wigan who had 10 men for most of the game).  I'd like to see us return to our best today and see a few goals and loads of attacking.  I know I'm being greedy, but this team is capable of it and shouldn't be settling for a scrappy 1-0 win against Vale at home when there are tougher tests to come.  I'm expecting an entertaining afternoon.

Give us a 6-0 please

Naw. Gung ho attack has cost us too many points this season and I think SS has tweaked the approach recently to stop giving away cheap goals. We’ll see, but as much as we love to be entertained, points make prizes

Not sure I agree that gung ho attack has cost us any points.  Just poor finishing and poor defending - but that's away and we are a different team at home.  The two home draws were nothing to do with our approach IMO.  I hope we play as we have in most home games this season, no need to tweak the approach at home against a bottom half team for me, but its just opinions.

Hope Randell and Cissoko do the business

I'm with @desperado, surprised at the inclusion of Randall and Cissoko, and Christie to a lesser extent.  I expect to see two of Forss, Tutu and Dempsey before the 65th minute, but a big opportunity for them all.

Jesus Schuey you do not make it easy for yourself

2-1 port vale

Time for Randall and Cissoko to shine

According to the Vale forum, looks like they are starting with 6 defenders. Could be a long day if we dont get an early goal.

Not sure about that selection, think it’s a bit on the arrogant side to be fair. Let’s hope Randall actually gives us a performance for once.
