jules_darby Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 So will Sam be concentrating on the game or still looking at the squad? Garty is apparently away, surely this'll make it harder for there to be changes?

superwhitesub Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 1st one? 'Bolton are looking to beat the transfer deadline to finally seal the capture of Spanish defender Cesar. Sam Allardyce has been chasing the 29-year-old for well over 12 months but he finally looks set to land his man. The central defender is currently with Levante, who he signed for in the summer after snubbing a switch to the Reebok Stadium when he left Deportivo La Coruna. However, the move to Levante has not panned out as Cesar would have hoped and he is now prepared to make the switch to England. It is believed Bolton could have their man for ??1million - should they get the deal done before midnight on Wednesday.'

richbwfc Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Bet we dont sign anyone that will start a first team game for the rest of the season.
Zico Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 sammy lee was on sky sports news last night saying he expects 2-3 players to be brought in today saw that interview, but it was more hope than expectancy the club are working hard, we won't name names etc etc
mickadoo Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I doubt theres anyone who'd prefer to have Ben Haim run down his contract half heartedly instead of 2 or 3 million plus signing some average player to fill in.

Aye, not half heartedly, but fully committed (which I believe he would be) I would. No question, it'd be worth it if it meant securing 5th spot for example.
HomerJay Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Aye, not half heartedly, but fully committed (which I believe he would be) I would. dont believe he has done last 4 weeks.
enzo gambaro Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I doubt theres anyone who'd prefer to have Ben Haim run down his contract half heartedly instead of 2 or 3 million plus signing some average player to fill in. If Allardyce can pull one of these out of his hat I'd happily see Ben Haim bugger off. If we're going to get lumbered with one of these I'll be none too keen.
boltonways Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Well it's 4pm. I think you can wave good bye to any transfer dealings as Sam can't leave the team to Sammy Lee as we've not won a game this year (except Doncaster and that doesn't count). So my friends Big Sam will suprise me if he has got anybody in, especially if it's a foreigner as any foreigner has got to get his bags and pack to come over here. I know we've got until midnight, but as I say tonights match is interfering with any transfer dealings and because we haven't won for so long I can't see Sam not wanting to be at the match. So i think that's it.
jules_darby Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 dont believe he has done last 4 weeks. Don't think 4 weeks is accurate. Either way, come the end of today there'd be nothing looming and he's a very driven individual, so I have little doubt he'd give his all if he wants a decent club / contract come the summer.
mickadoo Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I don't know if the player has to actually be there. Couldn't they agree on a contract over the phone, and agree a price with the club and lodge the documents before close of window?

Couldn't they agree on a contract over the phone, and agree a price with the club and lodge the documents before close of window? I don't think either the player or the manager have to be in the same place...........as long as the player signs the contract and it is then "faxed" through to the FA before midnight, all is well.

mickadoo Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 The Cole/Gallas swap was a few minutes late, as far as i remember.
