Ani Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Any lower league players you think could be worth a punt for BWFC?? Jermaine Beckford (Leeds) Tom Soares (Palace) Beckfod is way of being good enough, been very poor in play offs. Tom Soares, no idea ! I liked the aussie ?? lad playing in midfield for bristol city Carle. But only seen little bits of them so hardly a reccomendation....
fester58 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 what about tore andre flo and alan thompson from leeds i think there about the right age for us ,theres always the goalkeepers of every team thats got beat i think we'll need to be linked with a few more yet. think beckford at leeds would be worth a shout,
adambwfc Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Beckford can't score though, and we need a goalscorer! For me looking at a few of the Palace youngsters may be an option as they seem to be quite good or maybe Giles Barnes, I know he did nothing this year but he may be worth a punt if the price is decent.
tomy taylor Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I think Joe Ledley from cardiff would be worth a punt scored plenty for a wideman this year, decent delievery too
no balls Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Clint? Linda? Not the dead, veggie of course! http://www.lindaeastwood.com/ Edited May 27, 2008 by no balls
Winter13 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 nooooooooooooo freddy Eastwood, i believe we were linked with him last summer 1.5 mill got to worth a punt although clint would give us some publicity
jonathan Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 A few players for me that have shone out in the Championship: (All crystal palace) Soares - can play wide or in the middle. quite experienced for a player so young. big and strong and can score goals from midfield Watson - someone in the Carrick type role. He holds the midfield, dictates the tempo, good range of passing and can score the odd goal (also known for taking the occasionaly amazing free-kick) Moses - burst onto the scene and one of the key factors in Palace breaking into the play-offs. Big and strong, can play as main striker or wide in a 4-3-3. Powerful and quick. Only 17 and will turn out to be a very good player Gera (W. Brom)- very good player for West Brom. Their best player when in the Prem. Similar to a stelios but taller and more of an aerial theat. Can score goals and glays on wide right or as an attacking midfielder Liam Fontaine (B. City) - very good young centre-back for Bristol City. Liverpool rumoured to be after him. Not the biggest but is good technically and a calming influence. Fraizer Campbell (Hull) - if he does not want to go back to hull and face an uphill struggle we could definately do with a player like him. Pacy, eye for goal and only 20 - bags of potential - could score alot of goals in a better team than Hull Turner (Hull) - centre back. Was immense in the play-off final. Won everything in the air and never found wanting out of position Boaz Myhill (Hull) - Very good young goalkeeper. If Jussi and Al Habsi leave then someone to have (back-up goalkeeper) Aaron Ramsey (cardiff) - very good young player. Host of clubs after him - prob wouldn't come Joe Ledley (cardiff) - can play left wing or centre mid. scores and creates goals. Not the quickest but clever and technically good Andy Keogh (wolves) - very good yound republic of ireland international striker. likened to robbie keane Michael Kightly (wolves) - very good, young, quick right winger who is capable of scoring goals Peter Halmosi (Plymouth) - Hungarian left winger who has got good technical ability and has scored alot of goals this season for plymouth Thats my pick of the bunch. I'm sure other people have other recommendations but the ones i have tried to pick are young with great pace/ability (or both) and have great potential.
markh2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 nooooooooooooo freddy Eastwood, i believe we were linked with him last summer 1.5 mill got to worth a punt although clint would give us some publicity Was scoring for fun at Southend but didn't do anything for Wolves last season and had a shit goal return. No for me
Eddie Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Was scoring for fun at Southend but didn't do anything for Wolves last season and had a shit goal return. No for me If we're raiding Wolves then there is one player that stands out for me. Slyvan Ebanks Blake (probably not spelt like that), looks quality everytime I have watched him. Or if not then there is a big powerful striker for hull that I like, can't think of his name but he has bleach blonde hair and is a bit chubby.
Zico Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 one lad catches the eye in that league scored 46 in 116 in the Championship that's 1 in 3 8 in 37 at international level and played in major tournaments has green boots his name escapes me though
Sweep Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 i remember this time last year, people were all talking about Nugent being able to make the step up, and that clearly hasn't happened....having said that, his goal scoring record was never anything special anyway. Wonder if Nugent will ever come good.
exiledwhite2 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Ben Watson at Palace, as mentioned already, is a good player Might just be ready for the step up too Campbell at Hull/ United would be a good signing too, could be very good when he matures, he'd provide us with an option off the bench
lowey180 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Jay jay , get him back, just so we can bring him on for last ten mins and remember the good old days . Perdersen looks a good striker aswell . Only Ben watson looks good enough for me .
BWFC_LOVE Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Any lower league players you think could be worth a punt for BWFC?? Jermaine Beckford (Leeds) Tom Soares (Palace) Watson > Soares. I don't even think Soares is that special to be honest. Watson is as good, if not better and more effective than Guthrie.
Arrested development Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Beckfod is way of being good enough, been very poor in play offs. Tom Soares, no idea ! I liked the aussie ?? lad playing in midfield for bristol city Carle. But only seen little bits of them so hardly a reccomendation.... Also like the look of carle at bristol city. very good left foot and a tidy passer, needs a haircut though! Of the others mentioned Watson could be good enough to step up. Can't see any clubs in top half going for him. Also price would probably be fairly reasonable. As for strikers, we need some one top class who has a track record of scoring regularly in a decent league. Too unpredictable to try a championship player. It can work (Bent scored a shed load for charlton after moving from ipswich.). It can also fail e.g fulham (Diomansy Kamara at ?6 mil, Healy etc). We need to aim higher than championship.
tomy taylor Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 WTF? Championship failures = no thanks. so you don't think players like tim cahill or stephen reid would have been good buys from the championship?
