And another thing

He booked SKD, Elmander after their 1st foul, neither looked worthy of a caution from my view

The yellow for McCann, after 2 fouls, seemed a tad harsh

Bolton conceded 9 fouls, 3 yellows

Munich, 9 fouls, no yellows

Cheat.

I thought McCann's first foul was a yellow card offence.

Perhaps we should be grateful he didn't get sent off.

I texted Jay after about 40 minutes and said something like 'this refs a c?nt'. Even the 40/60s were going their way, he was booking ours for nowt, proper spineless homer.

I knew he was shit, but I didnt think he was a corrupt bent f?cker too.

I seriously can't believe that the incompetent tw@t has now got the Spurs v Hull game to referee at the weekend.

He did us at Villa a few years back when Jussi saved the penalty after Angel threw himself on the floor.

The FA are basically saying, it's only Bolton so f*ck it. Any "big team" on the receiving end and he'd be demoted.

If he ever referees here again, he will need an army of pigs to get him in the ground

Under the self-regulation policy of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body responsible for top referees, mistakes are usually punished by removing the official concerned from top-flight fixtures the following week.

And there lies part of the problem.

Apparently the FA/Ref's association rules prevent them giving an interview straight after the game.

30 minute cool-off period after the final whistle.

Styles could have spoken to the press/TV at 5.20pm if he had wanted to.

He's not just a c?nt in my opinion: he's a cheating c?nt.

Nolan reveals United's embarrassment

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan has admitted Manchester United's players were equally baffled about Rob Styles's decision to award a penalty for Jlloyd Samuel's challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The referee seemed to be the only man at Old Trafford who felt the Bolton defender's tackle did not get the ball first as Ronaldo was felled inside the box.

The Portugal international did not appeal for a spot-kick but gratefully accepted the opportunity to open the scoring from the spot after United had toiled against Gary Megson's side.

Wayne Rooney came off the bench to add a second but all the talk has been about Styles's blunder.

"Ronaldo was on the floor saying 'I didn't want a penalty'," Nolan told The Daily Mail.

"I don't think one of them put their hands up asking for a penalty. [Darren] Fletcher's going: 'It's not a penalty', [Carlos] Tevez is going: 'It's not a penalty'. 20 players who were in the box at he time knew it wasn't a penalty.

"But the man who was in black had the final say. They couldn't believe their luck but you're at United and, unfortunately, that happens.

"It does strike fear into you when you look at this magnificent stadium. Maybe that's what's happened to the referee.

"He said he thought Jlloyd took Ronaldo before the ball. It didn't make sense to me

So if Ronaldo, Fletcher and Tevez knew it wasn't a penalty, why didn't Ronaldo do the honorable thing, like Di Canio at Everton, and miss the penalty.

Although he would still have been a red bas tard he would have got some respect from fans nationwide.

1. Money.

2. Glory.

3. Adulation.

Respect ? Nowhere near on Ronaldo's list.

To be fair he did hit it straight at Jussi - just he dived out of the way.

what will be interesting is whether Styles is given a Bolton match to ref again this season. I think he may get one or two of our away games but will not ref at The Reebok

Forgot about this as well!

In October 2005, Bolton were away at Chelsea. With the Wanderers 1-0 up and looking comfortable, Michael Essien went in on Ben Haim with a leg-breaker of a challenge that caught the Israeli just below the knee. It was as clear a sending off offence as you`ll see, but Styles who was a few yards away gave only a yellow card. Later on in the game he sent off Ricardo Gardner for handball. 'Denying a clear goal scoring opportunity` is the official blurb. While there was certainly a goal threat, the Blues would have had to do a fair bit more work to put the ball in the net. Bolton went on to lose 5-1.

There's no mileage in Bolton continuing to moan about Styles.

Accept the apology and he might, (only might, mind you!) treat us slightly better in a future contentious decision.

Just read on skytext that Megson and Styles agreed that the players reaction was excellent given the scale of the error. Hopefully this will filter through to the other officials and start to change their perception of us being awkward to referee since the BSA & Diouf days?? Small silver lining I know but maybe it will benefit us in the long run? never has in the past mind!!! :nea:
