Gumbo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 This thread is utter sh1te Infact what i was going to write i shall not bother!
Traf Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 When did he last score? Missed his kick totally against Wigan when it seemed easier to score Very soft shot against Arsenal when it seemed easier to score Header over the top against Man Utd when it seemed easier to score (don't care if it was offside or a goalkick the liner flagged for - that was a debate for after the ball hits the net) I know he is being asked to play in a midfield position but this for me is because his goalscoring is poor and getting worse. Many on here retain the SKD title but for me Kevin Davies is anything but Super. For me, it is only injuries that is keeping him in the team. I'd say the ball was firmly back in your court now. Your serve and you're facing 3 break points!
Casino Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 marvelllously commited performance - there, im big enough to praise the bloke partly culpable for goal 1 though - well, from one viewing in the ground when he (again) let his man go but for sheer bollocks, hes a top bloke still think we need better, n all that
Traf Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 He was the first line of defence last night, he seemed back to his old self. Covered plenty of ground to make good crunching tackles and managed to stick one away. When Makakula went off and Davies went up top, that's when we lost the midfield fight. We needed to either put somebody else up top or put a battler on in the middle: we didn't really have either of those options available to us. Mind you, had either Nolan or Muamba played better, we'd probably have seen the game out.
Casino Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 i thought we lost midfield - attack and defence too, if i'm honest - long before pacamac came off
Traf Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I'm not sure, if I'm honest. The first 20 mins of the second half were always going to be difficult. The home team always has to have a spell of sustained pressure and there's no way they could have played so poorly in the second half. After the initial bout of pressure, we should have looked to get a toehold in the game again, but removing Davies from midfield surrendered the initiative for good. If, however, midfield had already been lost: you can only look as far as Muamba and Nolan IMO. I like Muamba and Nolan seems to bring something extra to our team, but I don't see them as an effective pairing. I never thought I'd say it, but we miss Gavin McCann.

Guest Muzzle Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 BUMP! Sunday Lunch for Yatesy: Whatever, you know he has a shite goal scoring record and doesn't get as many assists as you lot claim he does. Good luck to him, I especially like his goal at Blackburn when he was lucky to get himself an assists off Robinson from his shot from all of 7 yards

YATESY Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Just like the Anelka thread, I revert posters back to the content of my post. I praised the work rate and commitment of Davies but questioned how long Megson should stick with him for in midfield when the goals had dried up AND his input and assists over the last 6 weeks had been below his usual standards. As I posted on Saturday night, I am proud and pleased that Davies has turned it round with two cracking performances this week. Just like my Anelka thread, the player in question has responded superbly! Now can it be a hat-trick with Makakula or is he beyond help?

YATESY Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Admit it - there's nowt better than being proven wrong by one of your own players! I just love it and I am claiming full responsibility for the inspiration that Kevin Davies needed to get his game back on track. I thank you all for the two successes I now have.
