Not really.   I think that game was the return fixture from when we'd won 1-0 at Chelsea & Siddall ?? saved a penalty at the end just to wind them up a bit more. At the game ,we started off in the middle of the open end & finished up pressed against the fence in the corner , afterwards there was so much trouble round the coaches that the police made them leave & left several Bolton fans behind.

At Bolton, Chelsea turned up early in big numbers & there was trouble in a few pubs & then they went on the Lever End & got the better of things.

They went on the Lever End in 76/7 as well only they came across the pitch that time. At least what I saw through the eyes of a child!

That 0-1 win at Stamford Bridge is on you tube too. Not one of mine.

I think there's a white trim on the shorts

First time we did that was league cup semi v Everton, a fair bit later

And we were never on kick off v united

If I had to guess, I'd go derby

I'm going Fulham. Keeper has a look of Keith Mellor.

Is he related to the real Fulham keeper Peter Mellor, who I mentioned earlier :D

Any older posters would probably remember Mellor in his Burnley days....he was the double then of Brian Glover in Kes.

There are many contenders for the lowest point in Bolton's history (and there's some stiff competition from current events!). Scarborough 4 Bolton 0 in 1987 is a contender. That was on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend. On the Monday we played Peterborough at home. Less than 4,000 turned up to Burnden but we got back to winning ways within 48 hours. Goals by John Thomas (pen) and Steve Thompson, the latter in injury time. It was a long and miserable Sunday between the two!

So many matches that I can't remember. Unfortunately, Scarborough away isn't one of them. Horrible day.

I've got the goals from that game (which I won't post) but also from the home game, a 3-1 win. Which at some stage I will! Jim McDonagh in goal for Scarborough.

Win, lose or draw all those old videos are amazing for me.

Never grow tired of watching them.

Would love to see our freight rover win at Darlington, the aldershot games and any games at molineux. We got dicked their 4-0 about 88 but had 2000 whites on.

Anyway paul keep them coming !!!

I don't have any games from Molineux sadly. That 4-0 game was in a patch of games around Feb 1988 when no games were filmed. It was the bit in between the firm who were doing the filming stopping and roadrunner taking over. There was a gap. So Peterborough (a), Hereford (h) Stockport (a) Crewe (a), Wolves (a), Tranmere (h) we'll never see

No worries Paul. Whatever you post I enjoy watching. Very nostalgic. It’s the away followings back then that are so impressive.

A very wintry Burnden Park in early 1987 and Bolton on the slippery slope to Division 4. Far from a certainty when we played Bristol Rovers at home but blowing a 2-0 lead at home was a sure sign all was not right. "The Gas" turned up in a very garish away strip and looked to be on the wrong end of it with goals by Dave Sutton and Tony Caldwell. Mark Gavin is on top form in this video! But it all goes to rat-shit in the late stages of the game.

A bit of light relief from the ongoing attrition of modern day Bolton Wanderers. Pretty much exactly 31 years ago Bolton's only 4th division season was drawing to a close. The final promotion clinching game at Wrexham is now famous. The penultimate game was on May Bank Holiday Monday at home to Colchester. It ended 4-0 to the Wanderers with Jeff Chandler making a cameo return from serious injury and scoring the fourth. The result didn't do enough to put Bolton in control of their own destiny in terms of automatic promotion. But as well all know, five days later at the racecourse events turned  in ourfavour! Picture and sound quality on this is not great! This is a couple of months in to Roadrunner taking over - Dave is in fine form!

I was at uni at the time, and didn't know the score- had to ask one 9f the college porters who told me 4-0. Was well chuffed. Iirc, they'd done us 3-0 at their place and I was a tad nervous.

Yes I think the game at theirs was a Friday night. We'd drawn 0-0 at home v Scunthorpe not long before and that brought big doubts in to people's minds. In the end Scunny got us promoted with their exploits at Torquay!

Something these clips are reminding me of is that JT was top drawer at that level.

Remember him coming in Bromilow Arms after a match once and I was pissed and started singing at him 'Someone scored a goal, John Thomas, Oh Ohh, John Thomas'

He asked Steve the landlord to have a word as it was embarrassing. 😂
