Guest bwfcdan Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) I see SuperJohn reckons that Coyle should pitch in for David Goodwillie from Dundee Utd. He does score some goals but SPL is not the highest of levels. Still maybe a better option than Jerome I reckon. So basically, if we're to believe the papers we're after a failed premier league striker and a lad who's had a decent season In a league most of us on here could play well in. Worrying times. DazBob Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 ... and a lad who's had a decent season In a league most of us on here could play well in. Worrying times. A bit unfair just to write someone off because of the league they played in. Yes, Kris Boyd is absolute gash, but Henrik Larsson wasn't too bad was he? I s'pose it all depends what they've got to their game. If he's a striker who does nothing but goal-hang (or tit-line), such as Boyd, then they'd be no use to us.
enzo gambaro Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 If he's a striker who does nothing but goal-hang (or tit-line), such as Boyd, then they'd be no use to us. No, we've got Klasnic for that.
superjohnmcginlay Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Marlon the cunt King has signed for Brum does this mean Jerome is on his way out
BWFC = Priceless Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 In all fairness to Jerome every time i've seen him play he's always been a handful and has pace which we're short of up front. ?5million maximum but no chance if it's anywhere near ?8million people are talking about for him!!
Zico Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Fwiw gartside said on twitter that we haven't made a bid for him
jules_darby Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Fwiw gartside said on twitter that we haven't made a bid for him But there's a fax in his back pocket anyway...
tylswhite Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Fwiw gartside said on twitter that we haven't made a bid for him Great news
Zico Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 from a brum fan I know when asked what he thought of the link "Interesting one mate, he's a hard worker (most of the time) but scores very few, if you pay ?8m for him I'll dance, naked..."
tarian1979 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Bid rejected by Birmingham Just got back from a week out the country. NOT HAPPY COMING BACK TO THIS. What the fk, he is absolute dog shit. A Crapper version of Heskey. Good lord Coyle get a grip
tarian1979 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 im still waiting for any other viable options? dj campbell?.... or we still holding out for benzima!? im not saying this jerome fella is the answer, but some of you need a reality check. we are bolton, and a bolton with a very tight budget.... as shite as elamander was...without his goals last season we would be in the championship. we need a striker...and klasnic is in no way the answer. find someone on the bastard continent for that kind of money, why do we have to go down the BRITISH SHITE route. Woeful player
Gonk Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 find someone on the bastard continent for that kind of money, why do we have to go down the BRITISH SHITE route. Woeful player Squad Quotas perhaps?
tarian1979 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Well if we need english to make up the numbers it would be shite squad players id sign for fk all money not spunking a good chunk of our summer budget on a championship standard centre forward.
tylswhite Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Squad Quotas perhaps? I think we are well within that though arent we? Even so im sure theres better options than Jerome.
Casino Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 find someone on the bastard continent for that kind of money, why do we have to go down the BRITISH SHITE route. Woeful player stop fcuking wailing about something thats probably untrue you don't want elmander, you don't want english jesus
Big_Sharps Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 stop fcuking wailing about something thats probably untrue you don't want elmander, you don't want english jesus Is he an option?
Casino Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 theres probably a line here about his ability to get on the end of crosses better than davies
Big_Sharps Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 He can probably hang in the air longer than Hernandez.
tarian1979 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 stop fcuking wailing about something thats probably untrue you don't want elmander, you don't want english jesus I dont want english no, cos essentially the type of english players we go for would struggle to get in an england international 3rd eleven. Ok you get exceptions like cahill who has been decent and davies whos been a great servant. But you pay over the odds for english, even shite - why when you can get people like holden - regular internationals for countrys who are as good as us (even though alot wont admit england are bog average *) for peanuts - granted youve got to have a good scouting system to find these players, and its competitive cos everyone is doing it. You go down the having a team full of c rate english/british you end you in trouble (see Birmingham City full of em, bowyer, jerome, barry ferguson, carr, etc). Its no coincidene we had our best team when it was full of foreigners. * prays montenegro top group

Guest bwfcdan Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 He can probably hang in the air longer than Hernandez. He's a bit soft though. Saw him a number of times this season get nailed by big defenders..
DazBob Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Its no coincidene we had our best team when it was full of foreigners. No shit! Also no coincindence that those 'foreigners' were household names throughout the world from their time before they joined us. If you ever think we will (or can afford) to go down that route again then you'll be sorely disappointed. Yes, English players come at a premium, but don't write someone off just because of their nationality. There are plenty of shit foreign players around too. We've certainly had our share of them.

Thats what i mean (kind of), dont write off foreigners cos of their nationality - get me a first 11 national player from plenty of countrys (not neccessarily household names like previous) than c team english.

To put a different slant on it. Jerome has pace to burn, is strong and the season before last got into double figures. Maybe coyle sees him as a player playing on the shoulder looking for the through ball rather than up front on his own in a negative Birmingham side chasing lost causes. I think this could be a decent signing. If coyle can coax 12 from Elmander maybe he can do the same with Jerome
