January 18, 201214 yr Now I'm not saying he will be shit or decent, but surely we are scraping the barrel with signings like this
January 18, 201214 yr Stuart Holden didn't turn out to be bad n I'd never heard of him before he came here. For some reason, the decent MLS players adapt well to English football.

I think a lot of Bolton fans need to realise that we can no longer sign experienced Premier League players in January, as their prices are often inflated. If this guy has half the impact Stu Holden then we'll have a decent player on our hands.
January 18, 201214 yr Masterplan in buying from America.. Cheaper players Cheaper wages no language barrier !!

January 18, 201214 yr Am I the only one who wonders why we keep looking at over rated , over priced foreign players What happened to the academy Trevor Brooking...., what are you doing, and where are the future english players Or are we waiting for the next Nick Barmby or have West Ham got the dibs on them all.... I think you'll find if anyone is over rated and over priced its the English players. Which means clubs like bolton are forced to do the bulk of their shopping on the foreign markets. As for the FA's youth facilities they're under construction at the minute. Our own academy had had a large chunk of money invested in it over the past few years but these things take time to produce results.
January 19, 201214 yr Am I the only one who wonders why we keep looking at over rated , over priced foreign players Tim Ream is currently on ?35,000 a YEAR.. Sebastien Le Toux is on $122,000, I doubt they will come in demanding 40k a week and can see why Coyles so keen to poach from over there.. Theres also minimal language barrier which will help adjust !

Plus the only ones we get left with are the shite no one wants. You can get lukcy on the foreign market and find players for much cheaper who are much better than the english available to us and possibly even better than alot of english bigger clubs are going for. Why its foreign market for me all the time (although im not convinced this le toux is the answer - whats his scoring record in the states, if it aint better than 1 in 2 im not sure hes going to cut it over here)

January 19, 201214 yr 25 goals and 20 assists from an AM who plays just behind the striker is a pretty decent strike rate tbh. Don't know where it leaves Mavies though?

January 19, 201214 yr At least he has a record of scoring some goals which is better than some of the signings we go for. The mls is not a bad standard anymore and as already stated its an opportunity to bring players in on very reasonable wages compared to any one playing in the premier league. if he turns out to be waste of space then no massive loss but if he turns out to be a 15 goal a season plus striker we will have hit the jackpot Edited January 19, 201214 yr by glossopWANDERER
January 19, 201214 yr Have we been linked with anyone from Burnley yet, or do we have all their dead wood?
