I used to think we were getting a dog.

Because when i asked my Dad where he was going... he used to say.."i'm going to see a man about a Dog"

What about those

who don't care

who don't a right toss

what are they called?

Normal people? :D

I couldn't walk past a dog turd without holding my breath for fear of getting the stench in my lungs.

I also thought all police had amazing hearing powers and detected half the crimes just by overhearing people talking about things. I think they probably had a hearing radius of a couple of miles.

Tooth fairies? Ah! I once found a bit of my dog's bone that had broken off. I thought it looked sufficiently like a tooth to fool the tooth fairy but, just to make sure, I checked with my dad first. He did all the stuff that dads do; he took hold, twisted it in his fingers, sniffed at it, allsorts of stuff. Eventually, he conceded that it did, indeed, look like a tooth and that I should put it under the rug to see if the tooth fairy could be fooled.

Next morning I rushed downstairs and peeled back the rug to find . . . a fucking washer!! My dad must have been fucking pissing himself with laughter!

RIP Dad, miss you pal.

had a similar thing with my dad at 5

he told me the seeds in a tomatoe were teeth and if you didn't eat them right they ate you

bastard but still around (old bastard)

I used to think that if you swallowed apple pips a tree would grow inside you and if you swallowed bubble gum it would go into a big bubble and I would explode.

I used to think everything was black and white in the olden days

I also used to think Ian Wright was white and that Tony Adams was a striker!

As a wee nipper i thought that Cats and Dogs were the same animal, but Cats were the Girls and Dogs were the Boys

I thought you users condoms to get pregnant

no you didn't you are just a dirty bitch :blum:

I thought you users condoms to get pregnant

around the time the AIDS ads were on tv when it first became popular, I asked my gran what a condom was

she told me it was something you put on your tea

i believed her as it seemed plausible you could avoid catching a disease by preparing your food correctly

then when I realised what they were, I thought she was just avoiding telling me what they really were

years later I realised she probably thought I said "condiments"

I used to think when the prime minister was at chequers he was at the restarant in howfen

When you went to the dentist and he put the mask over your face I used to wonder how the gas knew which teeth to take out.

I used to think that when my mum and dad said "when I was growing up int olden days" it was like medieval times not the 60s n 70s!

If you travel north, you go uphill.

And south, downhill.

when i saw this sign I always expected a thingy like the thing in little shop of horrors to cross the road

But that is true.

Can people who are deaf and can't talk still speak in their mind, like read a book, can they read the words, not saying their blind, but because they don't have the ability to talk and can they hear the words when reading without reading out loud.

That's a thought I have now tbh, but no point starting another thread, hard to explain in words I feel, hopefully you catch my drift.

You didnt really need the 2nd paragraph dids

O course they can. To them though it sounds like the greased up deaf guy.

HTH

I though my gold fish was 8 years old, I even wrote a story about it AT SECONDARY SCHOOL, only till I got about 18 did my mum and dad tell me, they replaced it every 12 months or so, as I spent so much time feeding it, and looking after it. Come to think of it, it did change colour 2 or 3 times....a change in weather and diet was my dads expalanation...!!!

I also though my dad was a Millionaire, talking about what one was in class at about 9 / 10, got a few laughs when i said my dad was one, with being a postman. Asked why did I think that by the teacher, my answer was " well he gets me anything I want, and takes me to florida and to watch Everton"....no laughing then from the scruffs !!!

I thought my dad was the greatest goalie and wicket keeper and batsman in the world

Better than Gordon Banks, and Basil D'Oliveira

TBF I still do

I used to watch the horse racing on a Saturday afternoon and always wanted the horse called "Bar" to win as it was in every race... but never ever got a mention in commentary..

was years before I found it was a betting term

I thought Bolton players had places in the town named after them; Simon Farnworth being the example

Not being from Bolton I just assumed it was the only one I'd heard of.

I always thought that because my dads car had 160 on the speedo - it could go that fast (It was a 1.6 MKIII Cortina btw). Thinking back I would be amazed if it go get to past 80.

I also believed that mince pies were made from minced meat.

As NB says, that's actually true.

It takes about 20mins longer to fly back from Egypt than it does to fly there.

Recently my niece was telling me about a forthcoming trip to Las Vegas, she was miffed that the flight back took X hours 'longer' than the outward one. I told her that they used slower/more fuel efficient planes to return, and that people didn't mind - as they were less keen to get home than get to Vegas. She believed me and remarked that was a good policy, she'll be twenty two next birthday and has quite a decent job...
