Gonk Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 this is admittedly a touch extreme, but we could finish higher than last season. Quote

dave2980 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 could we be down by tea time sunday? No, I don't think so. Quote
DazBob Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Fuck me. I hadn't even thunk of that scenario! So, by Sunday night we could be safe, or by Sunday night we could be relegated. Yikes! Quote

dave2980 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 if we lose our 2 and qpr win? We still wouldn't be officially relegated but we'd need to beat stoke on the last day and hope that city annihilate QPR to make up a 7 goal swing. I've not even considered the blackburn/wigan game on the Monday night or their remaining fixtures. Potentially 5 of us could finish on 37 points! Quote
Casino Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 aye when i did the predictor i had us on 38, with villa and qpr on 37 Quote

dave2980 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 A 5-way play off? Unlikely, but possible. Somebody needs to work out what scorelines are needed to make it happen. We'd all need to have scored the same and have the same goal difference. Where shall we play the finals? Quote

Guest Blixa Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Beat tomorrow, win against WBA. Too many injuries tomorrow to worry a team which, despite a slump, is still a top 5 team. Quote

We'd all need to have scored the same and have the same goal difference. Where shall we play the finals? Bolton are on 34 gd -28, goals for 41. To get to 37 it's either 3 draws (so still -28) or 1 win and 2 losses, so gd unknown but not good, and goals scored at least 42. Villa are on 37, gd -14, goals for 36. Realistically they aren't going to lose heavily twice unless both Given and his sub get sent off on Sunday. Bolton need 38 to finish above Villa, thanks to their very lucky draw with WBA. Blackburn are on 31, gd -26, goals for 47. If they reach 37 they will have 2 wins and will improve their gd by at least 2 and goals for by at least 2. If they have two 1-0s Bolton could only finish equal with them by winning 1 and losing 2 but improving gd by 4. This would mean winning by 6 and losing twice by 1 - or something even more extreme. To all practical purposes Bolton need 38 to finish above Blackburn if they reach 37 because of the goals scored and goal difference.. I had considered all this when I pointed out the possibility of a tie with QPR and Wigan, which is why I didn't suggest anything more extreme. HTH Quote

If we lose both home games and QPR win Sunday its Championship here we come; They will be at least 8 goals in their favour going into the last game These ifs are driving me mad. If we had only won at Sunderland; if Spurs had managed to take something from QPR on and on and on. I suppose its Que Sera Sera (or what it is) Quote
