paulhanley Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 absolutely gutted for our fantastic support you deserve much better so far not good enough ..... so he needs to do something about it then and say "thanks and goodbye" to Coyle. I'm not sure how much I can watch us chucking matches away with utterly clueless defending against pretty average teams. At this rate we're going to be in the bottom half of the league all season at best. Quote
smithills_gent Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 When the Chairman comes out with that the manager will be gone soon Gartside will be onto his 5th manager in 5 1/2 years What a fuckin cock up he has made of it since Allardyce asked for more money Quote
HomerJay Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) Lee - highly rated coach, nobody could have expected him to be such a bad manager Megson - brought in as a disciplinarian, back to basics manager, bought decent players, was fiven plenty of cash, never had fans on side Coyle - fans choice, did good things at burnley, played the "right" way, talks a nice game, brought dogshit staff and average players in on a shoestring New manager, not sure what we need? Experience at this level will do me Who's the fifth? Edited September 2, 2012 by HomerJay Quote

gonzo Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 the only thing i blame gartside for is not sacking coyle at the end of last season. you cant blame him for appointing him, half the fucking support chanted his name for gods sake,he was widely touted as one of the best up and coming managers in the country and before christmas two seasons back he was odds on favourite to join liverpool.have a look at old threads on here,we,myself included were wanking ourselves silly during that first good half of the season. the appointment of sammy lee was the obvious choice as he had done so well under big sam,and to be fair to gartside he didnt hang around in getting rid when it all went tits up. the megson appointment was money driven completely,he was bought in to sort the crazy wage bill and keep us up...which he did.he just didnt get on with the bolton public that demanded champions league football and attacking 4-4-2 formations with wingers.he did all he was asked to. I do think Gartisde has a genuine love for this club, and his a fan at heart, when I saw his gaunt expression after that west brom game,It only compounded my thoughts. yes hes made mistakes, but he will know it,and this situation will be tearing him apart,he bowed to the fans who were hounding megson,he then bowed once again to bring in old favourite owen coyle, and now its only going one way. kent_white Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I trust Gartside. He's an easy target, but we've enjoyed the most successful period in our clubs history under his stewardship. It could be a lot, lot worse. At the point where he has appointed Managers, I have been able to see the logic in his decisions, so I'm not going to start slagging him off in hindsight. I even though keeping hold lf Coyle was the right thing to do at the end of last season, so I can't have a pop at him for that either. It would be interesting to see which way he went if Coyle did go. Most likely a safe, but unispiring pair of hands to steady the ship, like Megson was, so that bodes well! Quote
smithills_gent Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 the megson appointment was money driven completely,he was bought in to sort the crazy wage bill and keep us up.. The wage bill went up under Megson, he didn't reduce it and that wasn't his task.He was given the finances that Allardyce wasn't.That was Gartside's biggest cock up. The money that should have gone to Allardyce went to a bloke whose only experience in the Premier League was getting sacked by West Brom after a few months after falling out with the owner. Quote

It's wasn't as simple as that though was it? Big Sam was touting himself about for at least a couple of seasons before he eventually left. I imagine he wanted a lot more money than GM got to spend anyway. When you hear Sam interviewed, he makes it sound like he just needed to borrow an extra fiver and Bolton would have been in the Champion's League. Allardyce wanted out. That was clear to me well in advance of him leaving. Quote

Just what I think couldn't be arsed writing it all, unfortunately it's all about money and it opens up the debate of how much it would cost to sack him and who you get in would it make it easier if he walked? Which ever I do think no win against Watford and he's gone Quote

Good post that, im gutted it has'nt worked out, allmost 3 years in the job and we have gone backwards. coyles plan to get a younger squad was always going to have its risks in the premier league, he should have learnt his lesson after the stoke defeat at wembley and surrounded himself with expierienced coaching staff.
