Youri McAnespie
I propose the formation of an alternative council. Following on from the 'Starkie' thread - I think there are too many blots on the landscape in Bolton. So I'd like to propose getting rid of one, democratically of course... So, which road should get improving with loads of cash, and which should get improving with a load of JCBs? * N.B. May I remind fellow councillors, this is an improvement project, not an exercise in 'ethnic cleansing' - thank you. Moderators Carlos Posted September 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2012 Improve Manny Rd, Bradshawgate. Embarrassing. Bomb Newport St , top to bottom.
no balls
Trouble is, the nicer areas, it's usually because the people look after it and so don't need help. I'll probably get slated for this but scruffy areas will be back to being scruffy areas even after you throw shit loads of money at it. Teach them self respect. What's that saying about giving them the tools to grow, not the food? NB - No relation of the Bolton "family".
Members DazBob
Whilst Manchester Road is the biggest eyesore, I'd much rather Derby St/St Helens Rd and Deane/Wigan Rd were the sites for the first two bombs. Moderators Carlos Posted September 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2012 Yeah, I just didn't want to sound racist. Bomb Bank St too.

Burndens Bogs
It seems you can only choose one option option in the "roads to be bulldozed" section, otherwise i would have picked most of them
Moderators Casino Posted September 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2012 twas my dilemma too most of the roads out of town are scruffy, imo theres just something about tmr that wins it the gold medal it might be that front door almost opposite chaes still having the imprint of a menacing golf club nearly five years on that does it
no balls
I opted for St Helen's Road/Daubhill as it's had money spent on it and has still got the EU signs up saying it's had money spent on it, yet it looks like Beirut after a day's shelling. I haven;t been up TMR for a very long time so this may've affected my voting.
Site Supporter MickyD Posted September 17, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted September 17, 2012 I'll probably get slated for this but scruffy areas will be back to being scruffy areas even after you throw shit loads of money at it. Teach them self respect. It isn't too long ago that the good folk of Top O'Th Brow were given nice little wooden fences across the front gardens. Work was done at the end of October, just in time to become fuel for bonfires.
Juan.Kerr
If TMR started at the Starkie and went all the way up to the Royal Oak, I'd say it was a lovely road, but I think it changes to Bradshaw Brow at the lights at Tonge Cricket Club. TMR is still decent up from the Starkie mind.
Moderators Carlos Posted September 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2012 I thought TMR went up to Danesbury Road?
Youri McAnespie
I thought TMR went up to Danesbury Road? Used to go all the way to the junction, until Canon Slade board of governors successfully petitioned to have their stretch of it re-named - FACT. Members DazBob
I thought TMR went up to Danesbury Road? It does, Canon Slade is the start of Bradshaw Brow. Rightly so too, great school that deserves a nice address. Edited September 17, 2012 by DazBobParr

Juan.Kerr
This council. Do we all get exies and junkets abroad to see where else might benefit from a tidying up ? Jaunts I mean. Did I make junkets up ? Edited September 17, 2012 by Juan.Kerr

Smiffs
Derby Street - fucking shithole Blackburn Road from Asda to town - fucking shithole Halliwell Road from town end up to half way - fucking shithole. The half from AA to Raglan looks half decent. Manchester Road from Raikes Lane to well past Asda - fucking shithole. Deane/Wigan Road from Vulcan down into town - fucking shithole. Tonge Moor Road dont seem that bad to me. I'm seeing a common denominator.
