Youri McAnespie Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Tonight 11:20pm - Part Two of Horizon: Mission to Mars. Not seen it yet, but it sounds good. Countdown to the landing of a new billion dollar nuclear-powered Mars Rover. Edit: I'm on the ball - it landed, nearly two months ago! Edited September 27, 2012 by Youri McAnespie Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) It's also a repeat. I wouldn't know - I've not got square eyes, I've only got two tiny tellies and freeview - even though I'm practically landed gentry. I've no telly at all in my weekend retreat. kent_white Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Still on my sky plus from last time it was on Anyhow, Carl Sagan, Kent, he was/is a legend! & always good for a cool quote 'A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary fanaticism' 'For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.' Just two of many belters. Plus, he wears exemplary knitwear! Quote
MickyD Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Mother-in-law used to knock one of those jumpers out in about 2 days. Fucking knitting with three needles was an absolute mind-numbing thing to watch. Every Christmas I looked like something between a Cornish fisherman and Val Doonican. Wish she was still with us, I fucking loved them jumpers. Quote

kent_white Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 So, you actually want to look like a cross between a Cornish fisherman & Val Doonican.? My Rose has left me, I’m in a mood, she’s gone to Kenya, with the bloke from Allied Carpets. She wasn’t immunised, that’s a legal requirement, she’s increasingly slapdash, since we bought that new hearth rug. Quote

Didledee Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Yeah posted a few topics myself on the universe, mindblowing is so true. It's stuff like this that make me want wormholes to be a reality, completely wipe away the speed of light thing. Quote
Smiffs Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I'm going to the Andromeda Galaxy. How much do you usually pay? Its normally about £15 but sometimes they let you wank them off instead. Quote

Juan.Kerr Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Many a cold clear Novembers night I've woken up frozzen sitting in the garden contemplating the universe. I get wrapped up and take a brew and I'm there for hours just watching the sky. It's bloody big. Quote

Now this really IS a mind blowing video - taken from the bottom the MSL probe you mentioned as it jettisoned its heat shield then landed via a "sky crane" from a hovering vehicle. Fuck me, we're seeing what it's like to land on Mars! Go back a few years and the nearest you'd get to summat as amazing as that was Th'Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau and some corral. Quote
