Imagine what ovation Andy Murray will get at Wimbledon if this is what he got in Melbourne...

He's probably more loved there than at Wimbledon.

Greatest British Tennis Player of all time, absolute quality. Those who think he's a miserable cunt, a have never seen an interview with him, he's actually quite funny and self deprecating. Folk who didn't like him for being "anti-English" surely you would have had less respect for him, as a Scotcher, if he'd wanted England to win?!?!  -  as far as I can tell, there is only really the trifle slurping towel waver and a bloke from Breightmet who don't like him. I reckon he'd be reasonably happy with that, and won't lose a lot of sleep

Greatest British Tennis Player of all time,

He is the only male British tennis player to win a Grand Slam since 1936 so it isn't a long list.Fred Perry won 8 Grand Slams to Murray's 3 but Murray will be considered greater in 50 years?

Depends on whether he has any decent polo shirts with his logo on.

What if a bloke from Harwood or Halliwell didn't like him? :)

Not sure he's that anti English to be honest, just a proud Scotcher. And a grouch in lifts.

To think,  we were quite pleased with Tim Henman  getting to the occasional semi final

The country was enveloped in a tennis frenzy when Jeremy Bates got to the 4th round

Love him, proper mon. Given me some of my most favourite non football sporting memories, and I don't even follow tennis that closely!

Nobody does except for when it’s Wimbledon. Then we go onto the local park with our old wooden raquets and try and find them two tennis balls that are in the garage somewhere...

To be fair, since Murray became successful, I've started to follow other competitions to an extent.

I suppose that's what he's done for the sport.

Be nice to see a legacy of more opportunities and kids coming through.
