As mentioned before, how have the club handled this wrong? All they have done is release an official stating the truth. Looks to me like the club have given Skd the shovel and he's dug his own grave by comments made on talkshite.

We did - we paid him loads of cash over many years, as good as he would have got anywhere.

We also resurrected his career (*pat on back to Big Sam).

We followed the rules on testimonials, including the ones set down by the football league.

We told him he was not going to be offered a new deal on good time, allowing him to sort himself out in good time for next year.

 

I'm not sure what else we could have done in light of a manager no longer needing him (with limited funds at his disposal, he has to choose where to spend it - and he thinks there are better options).

 

The PR disaster is how SKD (who seems to have been dragged into this), his wife and his agent have 'spun' this and created unrest at a key time in the season - and in the history of BWFC you could argue. The club couldn't do anymore without going on the attack against the player himself, which they haven't done. If anything, they have been battered for being too laid back in all of this.

 

For once, let's give credit to the club and the manager for doing things right. If SKD had followed the rules re a testimonial, we would be in a very different place now.

In your eyes and many Bolton fans eyes it might but in Kevin Davies eyes it clearly has not been dealt with correctly, this was always an accident waiting to happen and needed handling with kids gloves and clearly it should have been dealt with better.

The club should have avoided this not awarding him a contract for 2012/13.
