Stealing From Children

Sometimes, football clubs can't win.

The Sun reports: 'BOLTON were last night accused of being the meanest club in Britain after axing captain Kevin Davies FIVE DAYS before he is due a testimonial.

'Davies had earmarked most of the proceeds for his KiDs of Bolton charity.'

Dear god. Bolton are literally stealing money from children by doing this. They are snatching coins from the grasp of poor, defenceless little kids. They are basically kicking them in the n...wait, there's more?

'Bolton sources last night said they would look favourably on any request for a match celebrating Davies' contribution to the club.'

Oh. As you were.

Indeed, Phil Gartside said today: "If Kevin asks, we'll give him a testimonial."

Oh. As you were.

I tried to get up to date on this topic yesterday, but gave up and went to bed because new pages were being filled at a faster rate than I was reading.

Undoubtedly SKD has been a major player for much of the last decade, and Munich was certainly one of the highlights, both for him and the club.

A lot has been said to indicate that he has been much less effective for at least 2 seasons.

One thing I have not seen is any comment about his captaincy. Maybe the team was already in decline when he was appointed, but nothing he has achieved as captain inspires any confidence in him. (In fact, quite clearly, he is captain at the club but not at home.)

The cup semi-final capitulation? The relegation battles? The opening Championship 'performance' at Burnley?

It was OC who lost the plot with regard to training, but the captain (and qualifying for his coaching badges) could have privately questioned the obvious lack of work on defending, in particular, early this season. Somehow, I don't think he did - he'd have a lot of explaining to do elsewhere if his free hours for taxi-ing the kids was limited.

I'm quite sure that DF is very fully aware of the situation, and like many others, I am happy to place my trust in him.

How can a club gearing up for a season extending to May 27th contemplate arranging an extra match? Testimonials are not what they were, and attendances can be embarrassingly low. The tax situation has been explained above. If 50% of the takings go to HMRC, given that he had not fulfilled the conditions to qualify for such a 'benefit', is it really worth it?

I'm very grateful for what he has done in past years (well, apart from that performance for Chesterfield), but I see no future for him at BWFC. Especially after this latest episode.

“I’ve been told I’m not entitled to a testimonial. It would have been nice to have one as a thank you for what I’ve done.”

Up his own ass much?

I'm all for giving players a good sendoff, but Campo was treated far worse than this and still came out with his dignity. Sometimes, it's a case of the less said the better.

Fucks sale this debacle is changing my opinion of him. He should have kept his mouth shut and gone with good grace like Bibi.

And if that was my wife spouting of utter shit on twatter I'd tell her to fucking stop immediately. She should get of her moral high horse and realise she is not a paid employee of BWFC and it owes her nothing. What a fcuking embarrassment for them both

Lets be honest he has done one interview that probably could have been worded better.

Us?

Thanking him?

Or vice versa?
