Player that has been a truly great servant to the club, 'fuck him, he's been well paid, past his best blah blah blah'. Player who has been paid big for bucks for one season to end his career 'legend, privelege to watch him, can't believe he played for our club'. Yes Davies got well paid, but he was loyal, more than the 10k supporters we have lost since he joined our club. No argument with letting him go, but he deserved better than this.

SKD has been paid a minimum of 10million quid for 10 years service..We don,t owe him anything..If anybody in any job get,s to the age where they are no longer able to perform at the very highest,then they leave(coppers,nurses,,pilots,etc)

 

 

 

Good point, a fair few years ago my old man was in the fire service. They retire you at 55 or 25yrs service. His 25yrs was early in the March, his 55th was in the February. No golden handshake or fuck all, just a letter to say as you have reached the age of 55........... Need I go on

I don't hate the club or Kevin Davies. Just think his departure could have been better handled. It's funny how we are totally sentimental about players the vast majority of us have never seen (Lofthouse et al), and have been singing songs about a basically bit-part player who got very ill but got better, but any player in the modern era who has given his all but leaves just gets nothing but 'oh well fuck em' ....and we've really done better without Nolan, Jaskaaleinen, and before then McGinley ('he's finished') ..

No you dont because its no fucking comparison. That is what happens in football and has done for ages. Theres soldiers risking their lifes in Afgan not getting paid what they deserve, thats not Kevin Davies fault. The point is players like Davies are a dying breed, model professionals. The cut throat attitude of some on here would have you believe they will reap the rewards themselves by saving money offloading him.
