Danny G Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Has anyone said they want Di canio. All I see is certain fans on twitter going 'wait for the idiots to suggest Di canio' etc. Haven't seen anyone say they want him. I wanted him before we got Freedman. Quote
tomski Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I wanted him before we got Freedman. Was more referenced to now. Its a shame as I like the idea of a manager being like that, but in todays game its to easy to say fuck him and go somewhere else as players. Quote

How different the world would be if the maximum wage had never been abolished, and was now up to £2000 per week. I blame Jimmy Hill. Quote
tomski Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 How different the world would be if the maximum wage had never been abolished, and was now up to £2000 per week. I blame Jimmy Hill. It certainly has created a monster. I certainly think the maximum wage going started the trend. But the creation of the premier league seemed to create the modern footballer that so many cant relate to. I'm not against anyone earning what they can but there clearly is downsides to this. Bosman played a huge part too. Quote
magic legs Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Di Canio will always do a decent job in the lower leagues, working with sub-standard footballers who know they'll never be as good as he was. It's a deifferent ball game though when it comes to managing millionaire prima donnas. That's what I think about Ince too - though more about him being tactically inept that will prevent him managing at top level. Quote

Casino Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) apparently, you can't tell high earning pros what to do if you do they refuse to play dougies problem, perhaps? fella on the radio - ex player - this morning says that players run the dressing room so you have to get the right players on side wonder how many freedman has who are 100% loyal and strong enough to dominate the dressing room i can think of a few of could fall into either category, but not many who would fall into both Edited September 23, 2013 by Casino Quote

Pablo Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Just been reading, even his new signings have refused to play for him. He banned anyone but coaches talking to the players at training. He emptied the canteen at lunch time, nobody allowed near the players. Quote

I assume he meant that the senior pros policed the rest of the players and if someone wasn't performing, they'd let them know. It's a neat trick if you can organise things that way. Quote

I don't believe that. He might've said he let them but it would've been in his terms. And no, I'm not bitter, just ITK on this Quote
Guest Blixa Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 There's a great article somewhere about his time at Swindon. Can't find the link right now, but if someone at Sunderland had read it before the appointment, he wouldn't have been appointed. Shocking that he can even be considered for a top level appointment. It works both ways. or he got em on side while knowing he didn't fancy 'em or couldn't afford them summer comes, he tries to ship them out or he starts to get some work into 'em, everything changes just flying a kite, cos i i dunno and i doubt you do perhaps Quote
Zico Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 the key was having kevin davies on side in my opinion and before that kevin nolan that train of thought leads me to think maybe that how SKD left the club under a cloud may have rubbed off on certain players also got me thinking who our top boys in the dressing room have been assuming there's always at least one bergsson maybe even Deano Quote
