Maybe... just maybe... Sam was the odd appointment out for a club of our size?   Sammy Lee - easy choice following Sam, but tried to change too much too quickly. Gartside removed him ASAP. Megson -

  • Freedman has never had a clue. Picks a totally different team each week and hopes for the best. Has brought in shit full backs and a terrible striker, can't wait to see the back of him.

  • yep   blind optimism has served me well so far   its hard to get suicidal about millionaires falling over.

Simon Charlton was pretty damning of Chungy on GMR.

The Korean press think he is wasting his talent in the Championship, perhaps he has come round to their way of thinking?

He'll look alright in a decent team. Not a player who is up for a fight. You can probably add another eight names to that list too.

That's the difference.

Watched Millwall game earlier. You can see why they've got a couple of results. They're fighting for points. On paper, not one of their players would get in our starting 11 but if we played them next week we'd definitely be turned over.

Feel for Dougie. He can't ship out players he didn't buy, he can't buy or loan players until he does. Has to motivate big wage earners who couldn't give a shit whether we go up, go down or stay as we are. They're earning, they're eventually leaving. That's the grim truth.

We have average youth players who aren't up to the task either. Not the world beaters we thought they might be last year.

Shame we haven't got Mark Davies or Stu Holden, as that would add the energy and craft we desperately need. Shame we can't get Dawson as he was the man we needed at the back. But ultimately, shame we haven't got a team with some fight rather than 11 individuals on the pitch.

The fans didnt choose Coyle, Gartside did

Megson was sacked as we were dropping like a stone. If he'd have been a cunt but got results he'd have kept his job

Anything suggested otherwise is total bollocks

You clearly weren't at Burnley away when coyle got a god like reception whilst managing Burnley. The fans got coyle appointed. Hence the mega reaction when he came and the hoo har when we beat Burnley. Spot on decision at the time from Gartside.

Coyle was on the shortlist when Megson was appointed. Gartside then recommended him to Burnley. The club were well aware of his credentials before the fans decided they wanted him.

Is that the same Coyle who got us relegated?

Just proves that you shouldn't take any notice of the fans.

That reception had evaporated within about an hour that day in fairness!

did them stuck on a train make it to the game ????

'He added: "Apart from four crazy minutes in the second half there's absolutely nothing in that game. The first goal was the killer. If we had kept our concentration then, things could have been different."'

That's almost Coyle-esque.

You're joking right? Christ it was louder at the end because they'd dominated us all match (Taylor bagged a free kick inbetween them bumming us) then we hung on after nugent scored

The problem is he keeps coming out with this crap. I did not go but from the reports I have heard we got outplayed throughout.

Its as if he believes it himself.

If you honestly think that PG and ED made that decision solely based upon us giving OC a good reception at Turf Moor, you're more naive that Didles

Jesus fucking wept

What about the "crazy" 720+ minutes where we haven't managed to win ONE single match?

There comes a point where you have to face facts.

That point is now.

Your time is up.

Was thinking last season, apologies.

Like most people I rate Dougie. Seems an intelligent no nonsense manager who is single minded.

His success will obviously be judged on results, but also;

Does he get the best out of his players?

Has he improved the playing staff since his arrival?

Does the system work tactically against the opposition?

He wont have many more games to put it simply down to a bad run.

It also looks as though for whatever reason we have lost the confidence of the clubs owner.

I don't think last season was just a crest of a wave but I do fear he hasn't got long to get things right.

What do you base that on?

Don't know what to say now. I'm a fan without a solution. Dougie is a manager without a solution. Things are gonna get worse, nurse. Wish I could close my eyes and skip to next August. He's the king of spin and naive morons like me listen to it week after week and believe it's gonna get better but it isn't. Far too stubborn. Could be a 10 year job this. COYWM

Only one positive from today, they kept the bar open after the match well done Brighton :good:

Saw a post earlier saying we should have gone Phillips last year because we were good those few games. We nearly lost at wolves, awful first half against bristol and poor at boro.

I'll judge freedman when he has had a few years and clean slate of our overpaid rubbish to make his mark. He built the palace squad mostly from scratch but can't do that here yet because no other manager rates these players quite as much as our fans do on paper

Said last week we'd a worrying look of Wolves about us, even more so this week. We can't score and give too many away. Only one outcome unless we can at least remedy one of those things and quick. I'd settle for a couple of clean sheets, however stinking the games may be.

Some folk have got some strange ideas about managers.

All this 'it's not his own team'. Aye, thats what managers do. They come in and work with what they have and add to it. And make the best of it. You do it or you get sacked. That is the reality of being a manager.

And give him a couple of years to clear out the shite? That aint ever going to happen, that just never happens.

Do the job, get results or you're gone. We ain't got the luxury of time.

Watched the goals now, should have stuck with The Ring as it's less scary. Bogdan is all over the shop.

Fat Sam's team would have handled such speculative shots.

Just back & it's a bastard long gruelling day when you lose like that.

We weren't outclassed or outplayed overall & probably deserved the half time lead, but the 10/15 minute period they were scoring in was truly horrible. It's not the first time we've crumbled so badly when the pressure is on & it looks like a lack of leadership or mental toughness.

My feeling has been that there is a good team in this squad somewhere if we shuffle it enough but today i'm not so sure. We've got players with decent attitude who aren't good enough (Pratley, Ream etc), decent players with doubtful attitudes (N'Gog, Eagles, Lee ,etc) & young players who aren't ready yet (Hall, Odelusi, ) all of which makes it very difficult to pick a team.

I back Dougie & still believe he can turn it around if he's given the time, but i'm losing faith in these players.
