Sammy Lee - easy choice following Sam, but tried to change too much too quickly. Gartside removed him ASAP.

Megson - utter cunt, but he kept us up and was removed as soon as he needed to be. Reasonable choice by Gartside.

Coyle - fan's choice, did really well but was found out. Probably stayed a touch too long. Gartside's error here - listening to the fans.

Freedman - amazing turn-around last season, everyone happy with the appointment. Results go bad, everyone's saying he shouldn't have been appointed.

Now then. Can you honestly say that AT THE TIME any of those were bad appointments by Gartside? The only one that the fans complained about (bitterly) was Megson. Fans welcomed Coyle with open arms, and most fans were (and still are) fairly content with the appointment of Dougie. Only with hindsight and after poor runs do the fans turn on them.

My thoughts. Bolton fans are fickle, and don't know how to support when the going gets tough. We had a taste of Europe, and suddenly it's our RIGHT to be up there in the Premier League? It's quite pathetic honestly.

this :good:

Probably clearer than you'd think.

I was in the UK until around the Stoke semi-final, so most of what I posted there is witnessed at first-hand.

Being away from it all, I can read what people put on the internet without my own personal emotions being involved. I can categorically say that people overreact after a loss. I can hear the boos at halftime when we're losing over the commentary. I can read all the utter shite that is posted on here and on 'Friends of Manny rd' on facebook (which, by the way, is a collection of the most embarrassing posts I've ever seen on any topic anywhere on the internet).

If it wasn't for these posts being the only way of me keeping up with the happenings at the Reebok, I'd abandon them. It's so depressing to read utter drivel posted week-in week-out.

You have a point

However

It's easier to be like that when you're away from it

I missed today and Leeds at home and was like meh

But at half time v Derby where we weren't as bad I was well pissed off because I was there

It hurts more when you're around it Snoopy, and football isn't logical, it's emotive

I can well understand folk being well pissed off now, we're bottom of the fucking league without a win FFS

It doesn't mean we have to agree, but right now it's not an overreaction to be fair

It was a month ago mind

Worse start in 111 years snoop, I don't think we need to worry about over re-action anymore ( I'm talking about this site as I wouldn't ever consider associating with the mongtards on Facebook)

No issue with gartside

No real issue will dougie

We are just going through yet another sticky patch

But it is a results game

Dougie needs to sort it and quick .

Well I'm with you on four out of the five

I stick with my team through thick and thin, so do a lot I know. Yes we have fickle fans but blaming them for the current situation is bollocks. If we had 25,000 fans cheering the team on it wouldn't make much difference to this lot. The fans are not to blame. I also think its a bit rich for someone the other side of the world to lecture the fans that are still turning up to watch this disorganised embarrassing rabble we have representing us at the moment.

And to answer your question honestly and without hindsight, YES AT THE TIME I thought Sammy Lee & Gary Megson were terrible choices. Coyle fooled us all and I thought Freedman would be ok (still clinging to that).

This team though is not as good as you think it is. Bogdan, Knight, Mears, Wheater, Mills, Andrews, Sordell, N'gog, Beckford, Pratley are all over rated and worse, many of them are over paid and do not have the right mental toughness to get us and running. You might not be able to see this from the Dominican Republic but those that have been home and away this season are beginning to realise just how much shit we are in. I am still praying Dougie is the man to sort us out.

Do you not think it's kind of funny that you thought Megson was a terrible choice, but out of those four he's probably been the biggest success? Brought in the best players? Show's what our "thick and thin" fans know.

If I still lived in the UK, I would still be going to every game. When I come back to the UK, I go to every game while I'm there, and would no matter what division we're playing in. It is most definitely not a bit rich for me to lecture and criticize the fans who still turn up, I am still one of them (albeit in spirit). I'm up in the early hours (like 4am) when we have a midday kick-off to listen to my team. I take unpaid hours from work to listen to us when we have an evening or bank holiday game. How dare you get on your high horse and suggest that, because I don't actually go to the stadium, I don't support the team as much as someone who goes week-in week-out.

I agree that most of our players are overrated. That is NOT Dougie's fault, more Coyle's. Beckford is the only player you listed who Dougie has brought in. And I'm still convinced that he could come good if we can get all the other overrated players to provide him with chances.

Not once did I suggest the fickle fans are entirely at fault for the current situation. That falls almost exclusively on Coyle's shoulders - a "fan's choice" appointment after those same fickle fans hounded out the previous manager, who happens to be our most successful one following Big Sam. Hmmmmmm.

And, for the record, I don't live in the Dominican Republic.

Anyways, feck it I'm going back to bed.

I'll wait to here someone's view who was there but we had more shots on target than them.

That's happened a few times this season, I'd be looking at getting Lonergan in.

Next 7 games are winnable so I'm happy to give him them. If we haven't drastically improved decisions will have to be made.

I don't know who else is out there though, but who could be worse?

Neil warnock?

“@xxxxxxxxx: Can confirm #bwfc fans gave it Freedman big time. Outside ground after game. Players got it too.”

I agree that most of our players are overrated. That is NOT Dougie's fault, more Coyle's.

Three of the players Dougie signed started on the bench today, so apparently they're not good enough to take the place of the 'overrated' players that Coyle signed.

This game was 'winnable'. Brighton had half their first choice team missing through injury and suspension.

This is way past a sticky patch it's abysmal and shockingly bad.

Channel 5 anybody?

DF interview for radio manc he says he is under no pressure

Like most people I rate Dougie. Seems an intelligent no nonsense manager who is single minded.

His success will obviously be judged on results, but also;

Does he get the best out of his players?

Has he improved the playing staff since his arrival?

Does the system work tactically against the opposition?

He wont have many more games to put it simply down to a bad run. It also looks as though for whatever reason we have lost the confidence of the clubs owner.

I don't think last season was just a crest of a wave but I do fear he hasn't got long to get things right.

Sammy Lee was a shockingly bad choice. We had a team that finished top half for 4 years and decided to give the job to a bloke with no experience. Rot started there.

Imho

Still it's a long season and think we'll be ok

The fans didnt choose Coyle, Gartside did

Megson was sacked as we were dropping like a stone. If he'd have been a cunt but got results he'd have kept his job

Anything suggested otherwise is total bollocks

Serious question and I'm not pointing the finger but has Bogdan ever kept a clean sheet away from home in the league?

I thought this was a throwaway question, until I looked up the answer.

Once. Palace last season.

I feel more depressed than earlier now.

Spot on

we're only 17 points off top, season starts next week
