Maybe... just maybe... Sam was the odd appointment out for a club of our size?   Sammy Lee - easy choice following Sam, but tried to change too much too quickly. Gartside removed him ASAP. Megson -

  • Freedman has never had a clue. Picks a totally different team each week and hopes for the best. Has brought in shit full backs and a terrible striker, can't wait to see the back of him.

  • yep   blind optimism has served me well so far   its hard to get suicidal about millionaires falling over.

Any individual performances of note; positive or negative?

I'd say Gaarps was pretty noteworthy

Nobody stood out either way but,

Hall was quite lively when he came on ,without much end product .I'd keep him as a sub for now & let him gain a bit of experience/confidence by running at tiring defenders.

Pratley & Ream are a problem in midfield...not terrible, just very ordinary, ..neither covering the defence nor creating anything going forward, & disappearing for long periods. Spearing wasn't great but at least he was always involved.

We were poor, very poor, we look terribly coached which is worrying. The most committed thing any player did all day was tierney coming to clap the fans and soaking up the abuse, we completely fell apart after the goal. There's no heart in the team, there's very little skill, we seem pretty devoid of tactics. I genuinely can see us going down, I'm hoping we'll get a win and maybe that'll send us on a run but despite being a big backer of freedman I can't see what he's trying to achieve at the moment.

It just seems that amongst our issues, the main problem is mentally we are weak and so the lack of confidence is embarrassing

first half we actually looked solid

absolutely no idea about any of the second half though

The capitulation backs this up.  I'm still not having the players are shit. Does Bolton have sports psychologist type folk?

That's a question for anyone who actually knows rather than someone who reckons they know someone who knows someone who does know.

Get Paul McKenna in, hypnotise them to think they're on a payment by results deal.

More solid, although I thought they were the better team in both halves. They passed through our midfield with so much ease it was frightning. they had so much time on the ball.

The difference was that apart from hitting the bar in the first half, we managed to close them down on the 18 yard box before they could get a clear sight of goal - I lost count of the number of corners they got from deflections when we were blocking them. They didnt have many clear cut chances. Then in the second half we forgot how to do it and in five minutes they punished us when they got a clear shot.

First half we created some decent chances and how NGog missed when the ref put him clean through, only Casino knows. We'll create more against weaker teams with exactly the same players - as we showed glimpses of the moves we can put together. We'll beat Yeovil but something needs to change to compete with the better teams (hopefully mentality and formation, rather than the manager)

Ream looked confident and calm on the ball unlike others around him baptist was run ragged against lua lua who on most occasions I have seen for Brighton is usually easily guided into the corners were he is less of a threat as can't cross for toffee.

Real issues seemed to be getting time on the ball, we didn't pass the ball from back thru to the front enough, long balls to ngog are never going to work and looked lethargic when closing down / blocking

Serious

Id love to see the stats.

I don't think Ream touched the ball in the first half.

Im not exaggerating here, I honestly don't think he touched the ball.

I hope im wrong

There's a lot of references to our overpaid prima donnas being lazy, not arsed etc.

Genuine question, is there any evidence of this or is it that the tactics, coaching etc is wrong?

To be fair the ref touch the ball more times than most of our players yesterday but ream stuck out from my view, just my opinion

Don't know if this has already been discussed but why has Medo been dropped? From what I have seen of him and reports from others he breaks up play well and stops this passing through us which has been regular recently.

Brilliant Garrp lad, glad there's something to put a smile on our faces!

I think Freedman thinks him and spearing are too similar, but I think Medo and Spearing are 2 of our better players and a starting place should be found for both of them.

Freedman's response will be to randomly pick another 11 from the squad and pray that it comes off. If Coyle was guilty of having no plan B then this useless git clearly has no plan A. He needs to go.

what I don't understand..

Medo was to replace spearing this season..

why did dougie buy spearing..

Stinks of KneeJerk reaction similar to Coyle buying Sordell..

Hardly knee jerk buying last seasons player of the season.

I think Medo was dropped as he'd been away on international duty, worked on Ream during the international break & Ream's played well enough to keep his place. He should have left Chungy out for the same reason, but didn't, so I'm probably wrong.

Always good to meet folks off here

Superbok and JOLBWFC

Saw the first few players getting into the coach after the match. Depressed at how pissed off they looked & sounded - more so than just another away defeat. Looked mutinous.

Didn't see any of the reported booing etc. We must have headed for the station before that.

Nothing much to say about the match that I haven't said about other matches recently. Constant tinkering won't help the situation. We need some physicality, motivation, team workrate (and not just chasing the opposition) and sheer bottle. Otherwise we look OK.

Just looked at yesterday's stats Brighton had 2 shots on target and scored 3 goals I've not seen the goals but that's worrying for me and I would like to see the stats for saves per shot ratio of Bogdan in comparison to Lonergan and I suspect the winner will be Lonergan.
