gonzo Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Are we all milk in after tea baggers? My mother in law puts the milk in first, which I find strange. I want one of them tea bag squeezer thingys. Quote
DazBob Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 My mother in law puts the milk in first, which I find strange. That's because she's making a huge error. The milk will serve only to cool the water, meaning the flavour won't flood out as much. Paradoxically, milk first is the correct way to make instant coffee as boiling water shouldn't be poured directly onto the granules as it scorches them. Quote
Whites man Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Milk last, it's the only way. Also Yorkshire Tea is far better than the Lancashire but I don't think we should be admitting it in public. Quote
Spider Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I regularly tea bag My mother in law Quote

Good to see your remedial English lessons bearing fruit. Quote

White on Tyne Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Presumably tea is blended to suit the water that is sourced locally. Earl Grey blended his tea with bergamot at his big fuck off house in Howick in Northumberland because the water from the spring had faint but noticable levels of sulphur. However that theory about blending is bunked as I like Barry's Tea from Ireland best. Quote
bolty58 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Thinly veiled "we've still got a Woolworths" post. Over the years, it has been very simple to deduce that your knowledge is very limited. Even the most basic research would reveal that the big two retailers over here are Coles Myer and Woolworths. No doubt you also labour under the misapprehension that Woolworth was a UK chain? Quote
bolty58 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 1960 what? It isn't that advanced down here. We still have to hand pump water y'know. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I'm milk first. Makes the brew seen a lot thicker (no spunk jokes please). Quote
Sweep Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I'm milk first. Weirdo It always upsets me when I see folk putting milk in first, it's just wrong. However....somebody here reckons that folk used to put milk in first to stop the boiling water from cracking the fine china cups, which sounds mildly plausible. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I'm milk first. Makes the brew seen a lot thicker (no spunk jokes please). coffee its understandable so you don't burn the beans but tea, my word man people have been sectioned for less Quote
White on Tyne Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The Indian guys here boil it all up in a saucepan together at the same time. Dirty bastards. What do the Indians know about tea! Quote

White on Tyne Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 They challenged me to try it. It was like molten iron. Went round one guy's house for dinner and he even put carnation milk in it. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Milk is supposed to go in first if you make the tea in a pot, and it was to protect the cup. Making it in a mug for a single serving, you have to go milk last otherwise, as someone said, it doesn't brew correctly. Of course, this is probably considering the pikey way of making tea. Quote

It clogs the pores in the tea bag and prevents it from brewing properly Quote
