I think we need more arm wavers getting people to join in who don't want to! I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet ha.

Standing needs to come back ln some form as the more comfortable you get the less arsed you get. Emirates is a great example (sitting in them seats was sending me off to sleep)

I like the idea of a vocal section but why hasn't it been done surely not that hard to say atmosphere section this section then folk who want to sit and watch can get on with it somewhere else.

But those folk would insist on sitting where they currently do and moan to the stewards about those standing and singing. Miserable bastards ruin it for everyone else

Case in point: bloke in the ESL a few games back complaining about folk swearing in front of his kid. There's a clearly marked family stand, fuck off up there if you're bothered about language. Twat

Split the south lower - Similar to what they do at Bristol City. May have half a chance then.

Would the police let them do that though? Would make far more work for them and god forbid they have to earn their overtime

The new kids section is in the upper north the north lower should be re promoted as the singing section and then it might train the kids up to sing and then when old enough its ditch the parents and down stairs.

Don't you reckon it would be too far away from the away support though. We always seem to need a them vs us mentality to generate much noise. I quite like the idea of West Stand lower towards the North Stand on account that in much the same as the scoreboard lot improve that half of the ground, singers on the other side might do the same. Might still be too far from away support though?

I reckon there's an appetite there if it's done right. It's the done right part that is the crux!

The reason I mentioned the West lower towards the South is that its a small section of its own. Like minded people will then have that area of the ground to themselves including the kiosk. I love a sing aong and I no a goos few others who do. Leeds game I was told to be quiet??

I'd like to improve the atmosphere at the reebok, all we need is people through the turnstiles and excitement on the pitch, then it will do itself.

I'm all for a singing section, providing its not full of onsie wearing wankers.

Unreserved seating is a must for it to work.

If we're getting decent crowds there's not a hope the police/FA will let us have unreserved seating

far too many people treat the stadium as their living room, walk to their favourite seat, place their comforts around them and expect an unrestricted view of the show, and god forbid anyone who wishes to make a noise. walk in front of them or even stand for a while. unreserved seating and a more relaxed attitude to standing is needed, and if you don't want your little darlings to hear the odd dodgy word - song keep them at home, although they more than likely hear worse in the street or school

Scudamore referred to the match as 'a show' the other day on Colin Murray's show. Football is now apparently 'a product'.

That's a good point. It does feel a bit weird singing while you're sitting down. If they let supporters stand in front of their seats it would make life a bit easier. Dortmund and Bayern supporters stood throughout the Champions league final at Wembley last season and funnily enough the world didn't end.

Thing is Im sure the authorities and stewards have it just the way they like it right now at Reebok.

Of course, having away fans right next to home fans would improve the atmosphere but it would also mean more flashpoints, so thats not going to happen.

Most people are sat down, quiet and dormant at home games at the moment - it makes for a shit atmosphere, but Im sure its bloody ideal for those in charge.

Pay your money, drink the shit ale, sit down, shut up, fuck off.

Apparently Millwall issue season tickets for blocks rather than individual seats so those who want to sing can congregate together.

they used to do that but no one ever went in

remember a game against Brum, we won 3-1, I think me and my bro were the only ones in the upper tier in the home end

as they moved away fans away from the east lower when possible I can't see them ever giving us back any of it, not when other parts of the ground aren't full

Flashpoints=good atmosphere.

Blackburn last season being a prime example.

We need more flashpoints.

Where that Blackburn lad ran out of their end towards ESL but tripped over the ad boards right in front of them?!

I agree, something happening on or off the pitch that gets the crowds' backs up makes for a good atmosphere (different era I know but the Leicester 2-2 with Ricketts' last minute goal after all the stuff that had gone on before was a great example of that) but it probably goes against everything those in charge of the game want. A stadium full of obident fans who turn up and spend their money but god forbid they make much noise or act up in any way, especially in front of the TV cameras.

What to do about it though? I'm too passive to do what many fan groups in Europe do; protest, display, riot about modern football and the way its run, I expect the majority of other English fans are too. Thats why we moan on here about it instead!

When he was asked about the best atmosphere he'd ever encountered at a football ground, Dermot Gallagher said that when the Reebok first opened, it was the noisiest crowd he'd ever heard.

You cannot contrive them though, they have to occur naturally.

Put the fans next to each other and they'll occur. The issue is, as someone else pointed out, the club/police are more than happy to sacrafice atmosphere for an easy life
