Greenwood was always shit, sad to see the Queens will never be the pub it once was but the borough of H does alright for supping establishments.

I believe there's a charity day in September where all the pubs are doing something for Derian House.

Locals only or can outsiders and immigrants attend too?

Loads of pubs bit the dust over this way,but every single one was as shit hole that nobody went in.

I know it's not relevant as its a food pub,but they opened a hungry horse pub called the iron horse just down the road in Thornton the other week.

It took just over £54,000 last week.

That is an inredible turn over for a pub that size. JSL

£54k sounds decent. It's a fair comment about shit boozers disappearing.

I suppose the healthy living drive has to be factored in as well. I just think you wont see the pub culture of the past as mainstream, regardless of what ever happens.

Decent enough food for pub grub, big portions and priced correctly.

They have it right, do Greene King.

It's the costs of running the things that's killing them IMO

A handful off daytime pisscans early doors stylee and a flurry of tradesman at tea time aren't enough to pay the bills anymore.

Sad really but good proper busy pubs only really exist in town centres now where they can be filled with piss pots all day.

A massive factor is young folk off into town on Thursday,Friday and Saturday night aren't starting in pubs anymore as the prices in the pubs aren't that dissimilar to prices in town. It's easier and cheaper to get 3 boxes of ale for £20 from Morrisons and get smashed at home before you go out.

Pubs need to evolve to survive. Those that don't die.
