I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

It is I’m afraid. Money has corrupted the game beyond hope, VAR, European super league, CL qualification for finishing fourth, Saudi state backed teams, it just gets worse. VAR is not a problem itself but the way the Prem league operates it is. Everton had a nailed on penalty at Anfield recently that was not even reviewed. I’m at the point of just enjoying the Wanderers play decent again and that’s enough.

Yep, its a huge choreographed Sky TV show, WWE like.

I've just googled champions league finalists history. I honestly can't remember Spurs getting to the final or Liverpool losing to Real Madrid a few years ago either.

The last final I kept an eye on was Barca v Man Utd at Wembley. I was in Vegas, the yanks couldn't believe we wanted Barca to win

Last few finals have been forgettable.

Chelsea 1-0 City. All that happened was the Mason Mount assist to Havertz, boring game otherwise.

Bayern 1-0 PSG. Another boring game, Think Coman scored with a header near the end.

Liverpool 2-0 Spurs. Even more boring. Liverpool got a penalty in the second minute and scored. Spurs did fuck all and then Origi scored late.

Last decent one was Real Madrid v Liverpool, funnily enough. When Karius pulled off two howlers and Bale scored an unbelievable bicycle kick. But it wasn't a close game, just had some iconic moments.

Before that I can't really remember, the only one that stands out to me is Chelsea beating Bayern in the final. That was the Fernando Torres year when he scored on the counter against Barca.

There’s a great assumption that this Madrid side are the local donkey and duck.

Theyre 15 points clear in their league, managed by the best European manager of all time with the best striker in the world and just utter class oozing through their team.

They have been very lucky at times to be fair, last night probably most of all. They have a good team, some ageing players with masses of experience and also some bright youngsters coming through.

Real have a ridiculous wage bill though, over £240 million per year. Compared to City and Liverpool who are on £130-160m a year in wages. Barca have had to have a total financial restructure which gave the title to Real basically so that's a bit of a skewed stat. For the money are paying you'd hope they'd win the league and Champions League easily but in reality they have been fortunate in both.

Saw it last night the amount of players Real have on the bench, Marcelo, Alaba, Vazquez, Rodrygo, Asensio. They still have fucking Bale on their books and he doesn't even play because he's publicly fallen out with supporters.

Play offs tonight Wycombe v MK

Like most play off games hard to call

desmond

If MK get past these, they'll win it. They are better the Wednesday and Sunderland but Wycombe are spoilers who might just nick a win over 2 legs

My thoughts too Dave and given the way Wycombe were relegated when it should have been Derby, I hope they do make it. Like you though, if MK win this I can’t see them losing to either of Wednesday or Sunderland.

Agree with that.  Just hoping MKD don't cock this one up as they are the best hope of keeping the "northern giants" down.  I'm expecting a Sheff W - MKD final but its the play offs and the refs or a bit of luck can be the difference.

If Sunderland don't win promotion the place will become near suicidal.

Their play-off record is abysmal btw.

Hazard is knocking around somewhere as well

I think Sheff Wednesday will win the play offs.

In his time at City Pep has only bought one striker in Gabriel Jesus.... and he's been used out wide more often than not.
