Yeah, but they weren't doing too badly until Gomez replaced Bradley. As for Salah, his attitude does stink, but he's probably right based on how shit his replacements have been. Quote

Repeatedly this season, pundits have shown situations where he hasn't tracked back to help his fullback. Overloads causing the Liverpool defence problems. Maybe managers have sussed out a weakness and have exploited it. That is incumbent upon the manager to address- especially it players on the pitch aren't managing to sort it. As for his comments; effectively saying he doesn't have to earn his place as he's already done it smacks of ego and a damaging attitude to squad camaraderie. He may have played his last game for the club, and it may be a good thing looking forward. Not sure that losing some players has seen them replaced adequately yet, but perhaps it's simply time for a bit of a reset. No one is bigger than a club. Quote

Taking his position to it's illogical conclusion they should have Ian Rush up front & Steve Heighway pinging the crosses in. If he can't see that he's not adding enough, or his attitude is that he should be picked no-matter what then Slot must do whatever he needs to. He'll be off to Saudi in the window I think. Quote

VVD seems too cool to try to block shots or tackle properly. Konate just an accident waiting to happen, incredible he's playing in the Prem. And the manager doesn't set them up to defend corners and set pieces, he just has them standing around marking space. That Leeds player stood at the far post waiting for the ball while 7 red shirts mark the 6 yard box like schoolkids is laughable. Quote

Some of the moves and efforts on goal were breathtaking. Bowen nearly scored an absolute worldy but it turned into an equally unbelievable double save from the Brighton keeper. Then Bowen did score a fantastic goal, what a player. One of the things that stands out watching Prem games compared to L1 is how many top quality shots the keepers save. In L1 any half decent shot is a goal, in the Prem its routine to see great save after save. Goal of the week from Harry Wilson, absolutely sublime, if you've not seen it, have a look. Quote

Alf Hartigan Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 I’ve watched a couple of games this weekend. The first was Villa v Arsenal, best game I’ve seen in years and Villa have got to be seen as title contenders in my opinion. Proper end to end stuff with no team giving a thought of drawing or losing. Second game was Sutton United v Shrewsbury. Very entertaining and Sutton unlucky to lose but their keeper was unbelievable in the way he was recovering defensive lapses. I’m sure he’ll have a professional career if he’s young enough. However, I’ve not checked out his name or age so it might have been a one off 🤔 Quote

Though to be fair, Isak has been even worse. Understand his frustration, but his public reaction is a bit pathetic & hardly helpful to the club he loves. Wonder if there will be a temptation to bring Alonso in should he leave Madrid. Quote

The reference to that dusk you get at 16:45 in winter when you know the football results are coming in, or you're leaving the dark ground that was light when you arrived. Hearing the same chants at every ground - too true. My particular annoyance is that every goal in the EFL, every bloody single last one, is greeted by fans chanting "der der der der der der der, der, der, der, der, der, der, der....insert name of club (2 syllables)". I first heard it when stood next to German fans at Old Trafford at Euro 96 and it sounded loud and impressive sung by 10k Germans in one end, now its like an admission of having no songs. I don't think I've heard any established Prem teams sing it, just EFL and/or small clubs. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Anyway on the subject of the 92, my neighbour went to Spurs v Brentford on Saturday, partly to tick off a new ground. They are a couple in their 70s and she's already done the 92 (mostly v Bolton, but not all) but now needs to do the new grounds. She's got 6 to go, the likes of Colchester. She's also done over 30 Scottish. Including non league and Irish, Spurs was her 324th ground in the UK! They've both had S/Ts at Bolton since the 70s but don't get to many aways now that tickets are harder to come by, so they usually do non league when we're away. Been known to go upto the North East and back in a day to watch someone like North Shields. I thought it was worth a mention, we've sadly lost Ruth Crawshaw not too long ago and folk like these are what football's about to me. Quote

For example It's the 92, it's football league grounds There'll be fans who went to Eastleigh in the cup, but they were non league at the time If they were to get promoted, could those who went now claim it as a league ground visited? Because it wasn't when they went Quote

Its a strange game if you’re knocking off iconic grounds like White Hart Lane and Upton Park. Should be with one club though in my eyes Quote
