Hopefully Lenny's one and only dalliance with three at the back. Wasn't the only reason we lost, but it certainly didn't work. 

 

Three at the back seemed to work fine against Liverpool.

 

I would put it down to simply tiredness, small squad, and bad luck and rolled into one.

Just got back to Leigh, were you lot driving the Batmobile or summat? Got a cracking parking spot near Millmoor. That's about as good as I've got for the days efforts!

Abiding memory of that game was a woman pissing against a wall (inside the ground)whilst her friends formed a protective cordon around her.

 

Would have got a few of the deviants on here twitching.

Pity Little Whit missed that match.

Positive - Vela is a proper footballer, amazed we've had him sat in the stiffs for so long.

 

Negative - Ream had an absolute stinker, opposite of Saturday in every way.

A game too far.

 

I said before the game that this was the perfect time for Rotherham to play us & get a result. Thin up top with injuries, excertions from Saturday, it was never going to be ideal for us & a great opportunity for them.

 

Wasn't expecting quite how it panned out though, there was some shocking defending, though I was impressed how well they broke for the 2nd & 3rd goals, fast & accurate passing.

 

Ref had a nightmare, poor defending aside, the penalty just before half-time would've put us back in the game at the perfect time, instead, they go straight up the other end & 3-0.

 

All the cliches have already been used, so I won't repeat them, this sort of result was going to come sooner or later, Saturday will be a different beast with the needed reinforcements arriving this week.

 

Wigan, 8 points from safety! That turds got to finally flush!

They'll stay up. Tidy stadium. Hopefully we get a 3pm there next season so I can smash some ales beforehand.

Lonnergan can fuck off with his "heroic Hollywood" style saves just get it in your hands! I would drop him personally.

 

Kellett and wilkinson showed absolutely nothing. They were off the pace and had no strength. Hope they can improve but personally think they should go the same way as Riley....can't see them making it.

 

People blamed the ref for some of it. He was poor but our defending was awful.

 

All in all a bad day at the office but we live to fight another day.

 

Only positive was a belting pre match kebab in sabirs....not sure what to make of the "soldiers of Allah" poster though.

What a mess....toothless forwards who couldn't hold the ball up, a midfield that couldn't control or pass the ball & a shambles of a defence....Ream & Dervite didn't seem to know if they were full backs or centre halfs so did neither job, but both got bullied, Feeney & Kellett were wing backs (I think )  but neither of them defended & Lonergan was iffy again.

 

It got a bit better with Rotherham tiring ( & 4 up ) with plusses for Vela who played well in midfield & at full back, Mills as an effective target man centre forward, & Trotter who passed the ball better than anyone else.

 

Anyway, it's a decent town centre ground & 3pm Saturday would probably be a good day out, unreserved seating & like Sheffield, sensible stewards. The 7 minutes from away end to railway station was pushing it though.

Them 2 late goals in a heavy defeat say as much about what lennys done for us as the wins......great effort to lads and lasses that went

I put a bet on wigan to win the league before a ball was kicked this season, so am taking all the credit for their position.

Just back, doddle to get away from thank goodness. Hopefully Lenny's one and only dalliance with three at the back. Wasn't the only reason we lost, but it certainly didn't work. First time selection's been a headscratcher, after Saturday's exertions thought we'd see Trotter, Wheater and even Spearing from start and with the powder puff attack we could turn out, a big, solid back four that might have defended out a 0-0.

 

One of those nights, was a bit wary about this one before setting off. Crap ref, everything they hit went in, we had one kicked off line, nothing came off, but at least we fought back a bit and didn't capitulate a la Freedman

Played 3 at the back a fair few times already. Did against Wednesday and Liverpool for example.

Pretty much agree with Big Es assessment of the game. Agree about the 3rd penalty shout not a pen but giving them a free kick, had me apologizing for my uncontrolled foul and abusive tirade.

I commented about the steepness of the terracing early in the game, can you imagine a full end, all stood up & a goal goes in? There'd be chaos, with folk flying all the seats.

Decent following, confirmed by their scoreboard as 874.

Great mixed kebeb pre match, although Boltimore did ask for "not wet" lettuce - hilarious.

 

Terrible defending in first half.

Goal 1, ghosted down the right, crossed and nobody marking the lad on the penalty spot - good finish though

Goal 2, down the right, shot that can't believe our goalie parried, again, no one marking for the tap in.

Goal 3, how we don't get a pen and even after that a foul just outside their box, break and score.

Goal 4, they pick up on half way and we back off and back off, great finish.

 

Kellet and Wilkinson were not at races.  Mills played really well upfront.  Formation kep changing, personel kept changing.

 

Nice ground though.

 

Whenever a team haven't won for ages (13 games) we always oblige.  They had only won 5 games all season before last night.
