COYW Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 BBC have uploaded a few previous semi-finals: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30628270 Kevin Davies playing for Chesterfield. Ian Marshall playing for Oldham. How much better were those games when they were played at neutral grounds? The Clock End when Pompey score looks pretty mental. Quote
Farrelli Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The decision to have SF's at Wembley was a very bad one. Quote
Traf Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The decision to have SF's at Wembley was a very bad one. for fans, yes. great for the FA and TV Quote
SalfordOriginal Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Other than Old Trafford where else could offer fans over 30,000 tickets per club? I would say the FA would argue that benefits the fans.... Falls down when they reduce the final allocation but still Quote
no balls Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I don't want to talk about FA cup semi finals as the wounds will just reopen for us all Quote

Love footage like that. I lost all interest in cup semi finals once they moved to wembley. Another nail in the coffin for soul of football. They should be at neutral ground IMO. Quote
Guest Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Yes SFs being at Wembley it takes the edge off the final slightly but it lets more fans go and experience seeing their side walk out at Wembley. I've only been to new Wembley once. And yes it was an absolutely awful result but I can still say that I've seen my side play there. Quote

COYW Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 for fans, yes. great for the FA and TV Why does it make any difference to TV where the semi-finals are? Quote
Traf Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Why does it make any difference to TV where the semi-finals are? They turn up at Wembley with their equipment and all the cabling is already laid inside the ground, like at the Macron and they just plug in. Saves them hours in setting up and dismantling time. Plus better/more camera positions etc. Quote

I would say the FA would argue that benefits the fans.... Falls down when they reduce the final allocation but still Arsenal could and Newcastle can already accommodate close to that number. Within the next few years, Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and City will probably be able to accommodate around 55-60,000 supporters. The midlands has a distinct lack of grounds this size but either end of the country will be fairly well served. Edited April 17, 2015 by COYW Quote
Biggish Dave Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Wembley is a ballache for the semi's but it was part of the deal to help finance the new Wembley that semi's would be played there - I wish successful clubs would hurry up and pay that place up then we can get back to neutral grounds Quote
Con Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Three of my worst ever days watching Wanderers have been at that place(Villa, Stoke and Tranmere) Unless we get to a Cup final I hope we never have to go there again. Incidentally, if Reading manage to pull off beating Arsenal, they will have to wait 4 weeks from the end of the championship season to the final. Another triumph of planning there. MalcolmW Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) How about these SF replay venues: Roker Park, Sunderland Elm Park, Reading Or as an initial venue: Fartown/St John's Rugby Ground, Huddersfield. Edited April 17, 2015 by MalcolmW Quote
