Farrelli Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 We are re-forming the Newcastle forward line from 2011, what could go wrong? Quote
birch-chorley Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 If we don't find some money, and in the great scheme an extra few grand a week isn't going to make much difference to our 172 million debt, then we're seriously in danger of making our financial situation a whole lot worse, relegation would half our crowds and thus half our income, if that's what's on offer from ED then don't blame the fans when we're bumming round 5k at the macron and heading to the 4th tier. I think we can only bring in what we take on the gate / TV revenue / sponsors / player sales / car park sales  The bank and ED won't put any more in  If we go down then I'd assume we would just have to cut our budget even further  It's not looking great without a takeover Quote
snowball Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I've no idea what his current condition is but I could name ten worse strikers who have played for us. You have obviously never had the pleasure of witnessing Ian Moores, Nigel Jemson or Trevor Morgan? Yes I did so I should have said one of the worst. I wasn't going back that far but yes you are right it's back to the 80's. Quote

Agreed, if a new owner came along and said they would punt £50m but not a penny more I don't think many would complain. Quote

DaveTheRave Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 If we all stop going all it will do is speed up the clubs decline. Â If everyone who went during our Premier League days still attended games we'd have more money to spend on better players. Â Pretty obvious what we should do as 'supporters' IMO. Quote
Horwich Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 We had a car boot sale the other week. We should have done well out of that. Quote

But like anyone his pockets are only so deep. Perhaps he simply cannot keep pouring money in. Be like if I lost my job and the mortgage company said "you've got the most to lose by not keeping up with repayments"...aye it is true, but I might simply not be able to. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Clubs like us and QPR don't have a divine right to be bankrolled by someone, other clubs our size would have loved the ten years we had. Â Times are tough now but we're not much worse now than clubs who traditionally average 12-15k through the gate and get a similar turnover. The fans have been spoilt and it is a shame more haven't hung around, but they don't at many other clubs either, so again we aren't much different. Quote
snowball Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 No we are not that different as fans but slagging the fans and our best ever manager is a favoured pastime on here.I know we have no money and fucking it off will not help the club. But if we carry on like we are (reduced to total no hopers bumming around in the championship if we are lucky) I will be knocking it on the head for homes next season. I keep going for the young one really but he's going with his mates now and I've seem it all before in the 80's. Shit fan or not I will leave it to those who will have not one word of criticism against Eddie Davies and Gartside (still taking his massive salary out no doubt). Very sad what's happening to the club. Quote
Guest Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 It is simple, go if you still enjoy it, stop if you don't. It is a football club, there aren't rules about having to go to every game forever. Quote
Ani Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 think the club are waiting for the money from Jack and the beanstalk to buy a world class centrefoward. Â It is the only reason I can think of that they have that so prominent on the online ticket site. Quote
plodwhite Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I have to admit going up to the Macron can be a drudge but its been part of my life since the early seventies so its a habit I cant kick, I am an eternal optimist and think things can get better and will. The trouble is unlike the seventies and eighties football can be found nearly every day or night on TV but all we got where highlights on Saturday night  and Sunday afternoon so you really had to go to the game and it has to be said even in the lower leagues the atmosphere was miles better then than it is in most grounds now, You didn't need a ticket for most games so could just jump on a coach and go. What I am trying terribly to say is in them days it didn't matter what league you were in the match day was more fun, (remember Scarborough away in the 4th division!!!) if it was a crap game you still had the terraces, well that's what I think anyway sorry Quote

You seem happy to give BSA credit for the great times but just resentment of ED & PG??  You can't have it both ways, if they were good times then all involved should be equally praised, no??  I think the reason folk on here defend them so much is because they can't understand the level of critisism they get and its an effort to balance it all out  The club gets slagged off plenty on here... Ticket office, stewarding etc etc etc  But to start saying that ED & PG are out to fuck the club like some think is nothing short of bizarre Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) Really? No, I mean really? Â Can't believe I just read that from you... Like many of a certain age I've been here before and got the tshirt, I'll never pack in but more and more I'm reducing the number of times I go to watch us, at the moment it's away games I'm missing but most of the long term wanderers fans I know have near enough sacked it off. Continue on this road and many more will do the same. I might add if there was a plan a vision of how we might go forward is likely buy into that, but there does not seem to be one. I think that shows the arrogance of the current chairman and owner the fans are not deemed worthy enough to be engaged with and included in any future plans. I'm told it's Eddie's club he can do what he wants, well I thought I supported Bolton Wanderers not Davies & Gartside. They are running the club into the dirt. We are listed in many polls of the worst run football clubs in Britain but they can do no wrong? The Premiership years did not fuck us up or put us in this mess what happened since has and you can exonerate Gartside all you want but for me he takes his share of the blame. Like I said you are welcome to him. and as for Dan5 saying its all about enjoyment no its not that simple. Plenty of time we drag ourselves up there because we are fans and not particularly looking forward to the match but when the owner is as disinterested as now and Gartside happy just taking his wedge then what's the point? And they are fucking the club it's there for all to see, not intentionally as such, buts that the end result. No investment, no hope Quote
