We are 1 promotion away from guaranteed fortunes. With our now heavily trimmed cost base we could turn a large profit if we decided to be more careful with spending like Burnley did when they went up. We also currently have a premier league set up in terms of the stadium and training ground etc so investment in that area is not imperative.

The risks are, how much investment is required to get that 1 lucrative promotion? How many years of covering losses would it take before we get there, and if we do get there how much of the profit do you give up (in terms of spending on wages) to give you a better chance of staying there for longer. Or do you just keep costs as low as possible, cream all the profits from the increased revenue and pray for a miracle with regards to staying up.

As long as we are only 1 promotion from the Premiership I still believe that we are an attractive (albeit risky) investment.

Fair play to them if that's the angle. It's a massive risk. I'm hoping they know something we don't.

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the proposal (if there is one).

However, DH was once trusted with an 8 foot sidefoot pass into the goal to put us into the Cup Final.

We are now talking about the future of the club for years to come. I hope the outcome is considerably better!

The risks to any consortium would only be the deposit they are willing to put Down to finance the loan to buy the club

After all the loan will likely be secured against the clubs assets just like a mortgage

As its a limited liability business any consortium could walk away at any point leaving the club and its assets in the hands of whoever financed the takeover

As we are a business losing money hand over fist I can't see them getting a reasonable financing agreement, it's likely to be high interest and it would be the business (Bwfc) who pays that back

That is of course if they intend to get a loan to buy the club, it could be that they are paying cash although I doubt it based on the names being banded about

It really is a bit of a minefield being taken over by a dozen blokes all putting in a bit of cash here and there

Unless there is someone behind them willing to put tens of millions at risk then we will be skating on very thin ice indeed

Pretty much where I'm at. Not sure I'm jumping up and down because someone wants to buy us, loads of clubs have been bought and had problems purely based on that. Be nice if someone with serious intent and money was involved, if not we could be one step forward now and two steps back further down the line.

But hey, let's keep those fingers crossed all works out and that David Jack off here has been through the proposals before everything is finalised,

The rocket science bit is do you see this business turning around? Virtually all football clubs run at a lost anyway. I don't see why they'd invest.

As mentioned above, if they can somehow get back to Premiership it's turned around financially.

That's what people said when we had a debt of £30 million and got promoted to the premier league.

The debt was supposedly going to vanish.

Didn't quite turn out that way.

You don't get it do you?  -  get rid of ED and PG, and then everything will become a whole lot better almost immediately

sorry

i do keep missing the point

the irony is that if somebody comes in and spends money we haven't got, folk will complain

if they come in and say its a business and theres going to be some sense, folk will complain

Giggs has a foot in both camps surely? Its got to be a conflict of interest? Doesn't butt coach in the youth system too?

Unless they have part ownership in ManU, I doubt there's a problem.

Missus has given me the green light to gazump them if we are sole jackpot winners tonight.

I wouldn't touch us with a barge pole if I won.

I have no I'll feeling towards anyone at bwfc but if he wants out, I want him out too. I'd rather we had a punt at being good than float around in this miserable exsistance. Not arsed what happened at Coventry etc. We can't keep using examples of clubs where it has gone shite, like I wouldn't use examples of the good.

So if Eddie clears the debt and Holdsworth comes in with no war chest and says we'll spend in line with turnover, is that a good takeover?

in my eyes, no, not at all

and if that loan shark loan is still outstanding, fook knows where that leaves us

im still clinging on to the hope that holdsworths merely an agent who touted us around and came up with somebody with money

if holdsworth is involved with whoever is buying us, ill be very underwhelmed and pretty concerned as to where it all ends
