We have fucked up. They’re outbreeding the white population in Bolton and moving out of their slums in to what was once white areas and the local whites are then moving further away to avoid them. We can co exist with them on a working level but outside of work you very rarely see whites and Muslims socialising. And that’s because we don’t share many of the same values. Think the council need to move on from just bigging up the food festival and Iron Man as triumphs whenever someone mentions the town centre. 

They use them as a shield to deflect that the rest of the time it's a shit hole. Times are hard but it needs a major reshuffle to get it back right again. The town centre has shrunk massively, and places like the market now sits away from the centre, get something going on down that stretch (it's an empty mess). Try and get some of the outlier shops to move there with incentives. 

They're doing building work on the old M&S building, anyone know what's happening there? 

Honestly feels like there has been a plan to kill it off for the last 20 years.

Have you been to that area lately? The whole stretch boundaried by Deansgate, Moor Lane , Blackhorse St and Ashburner St is currently being built on. The former Odeon Cinema is being built on.

Granted, it isn’t with a view to creating a shopping experience similar to that in Bury but “it’s an empty mess” stopped being true about 6-12 months ago.
