Town Centre Latest

Just had a meeting on Churchgate. Sad to see the Bolton News offices empty. And in a week or two the Travel Counsellors building opposite will be empty. Another 200+ people spending approx £20 per week on parking and lunches in the town... plus whatever other services they spend their hard-earned on - all being lost. Very sad state of affairs.

When will it get better? Should these empty offices be turned into apartments?

Its attached to their house, not sure they actually live their  anymore though.

But does show its more than likely fully paid off, also both husband and wife have worked the shop for years themselves, every day. Brilliant people, so nice, and know all their locals, proper old skool.

Good old fashioned hard work with low over-heads and offereing great value for money - who would have thunk it, it still works.

Get down  Daubhill on any afternoon, can of pop, any burger and chips are £3 in many places. (Not that I’d eat it myself like)

I hope the burger is from grass fed, free range cows, so the beef is high in omega-3 oils and rich in vitamins and minerals.

Actually, at that price, I'm going to assume it's just some delicious mechanically recovered animal parts

Yeah lovely family - can imagine he'd be a good copper. He was the year above me so only vauge memories but always nice and good at football.

Keogh - talk about a teacher out of time with his cape on for assembly.

My mum was a teacher at smithills and they couldn't believe how out of touch he was. Proper old school.

so you dunk the chip barm into it?  - that makes sense, I thought you meant it was poured onto the barm

Might as well bring back scurvy, child chimney sweeps, the nit nurse and pints of mild.

LW is an absolute tramp. 🤣

Used to work near Fleet Street in London. There was a place called Fuzzy’s Grub. It specialised in roast meal sandwiches, which had the whole roast in the sandwich, including gravy. It was great.

We always asked for 'pea soup' not 'pea wet'. As broad as long mind but less chance of being served one of these:-
