Aye, forgot about the golf

Have to be a through the night job the.

If he dies, he dies.

Seems like the strike barely even scratched that air base and Syria is already flying aircraft out of it again.

Strange move really, US could have absolutely levelled the place if they wanted to

They phoned ahead. It was a symbollic attack, not a strategic one.

I cannot break him. He's like a piece of iron.

To symbolise what? That you can gas a load of civilians and the response will be 60 conventional warheads landing "near" your base and certainly not on your planes, your runways, your potential/probable Russian advisors or even your gas?

Meanwhile any fragile working relationship with Russia in the region goes out the window and they say they'll reinforce Assad's air defences for him.

Trump's fucked it.

To symbolise that they won't stand by and do nothing when a dictator gases innocent civilians. Can you imagine if they'd not phoned ahead, and killed a load of Russian personnel? They'd have started WW3. If that's what you want, then yes they've fucked it.

In a way it seems like they have stood by though, they've already lost the narrative that this strike was anything other than militarily useless. Last thing I want is any Russians killed by Americans, it would probably have been wiser to actually not carry out any retaliation strike at all.

They've succeeded in making it more likely that there will be some kind of incident between American and Russian aircraft now as Russia has pulled out of the "deal" they had to manage the airspace.

A total quagmire of a situation just got messier.

Maybe. We'll see. Personally, I think what the US did yesterday was spot on. Pleasantly surprised. Not entirely sure of Trump's motives given his previous thoughts on the subject (criticising Obama for even expressing thoughts of an intervention), but it was the right move.

Have to agree. The West should never have got involved in the Middle East/North Africa. Easy to be wise in retrospect, I know.

Leave the strongmen in charge and leave them do whatever they see fit to keep their primitives in check.

Saddam and Gaddafi still in power and we would probably never have seen an ISIS and only have to put up with Amnesty International spokespersons whining about human rights over there instead of nutjobs driving trucks into people and worse in Europe.

Beginning to wonder about you. No mention of Scunthorpe v Bolton?

I take it back - Wanderers on GMR. Missed that at first pass.

Even if that involves them attacking their own civilians with chemical weapons?

I agree to a point that in hindsight, we would have probably been better off leaving Gadaffi and Saddam in charge, but I'm not sure we can be letting these despots do absolutely anything they want to their populations.

At the end of the day, it is and always was all about the oil, and always will be until such a time as it runs out......and then we'll just walk away and leave them to it no doubt

The sooner the fucking better on the last point.

On the first point, yes. A problem for them, not us. If they aren't happy, try to overthrow the despot. Even better, try to overthrow the primitive faith system which has held the Middle East back for centuries.

I'm inclined to agree on both fronts.  Meddling in others affairs is usually unwise, even if well intentioned.

I'm a Lao Tzu fan though - aggression can only be justified in defence.  Then, imo, all morality etc goes out the window.  A karmic pass if you will.

No-one gave a flying fook about Rwanda, Cambodia etc and they're doing OK now . . .

Assad seems to be on that "fake news" wave now..

Must admit these Spicer press conferences are pretty entertaining. The fucking knob  :D

I like the way Stelios is quietly going about his business...

Are you a scriptwriter for 70's kids shows?

why dont you? were proper shit. murun berstangasur (or whatever its spelt like) or whatever else were on c4 at the time were always better.

He's only been In office about 3 days and he's dropped the biggest non nuclear bomb on Afghanistan?

Nice work the Donald.

Should have dropped it on Old Trafford.

Nice work the Donald.

Is that a good or bad thing?

Im still scratching my head at all this

Everything he talked about in terms of foreign policy was about leaving the world to it, not spending money fighting other folks battles all over the place

He's now weighing America in heavier than they have been since Bush got a twitchy trigger finger

Toe to toe with Russia in Syria, biggest bomb ever in Afghanistan, a fleet sailing towards North Korea

All a bit strange

Makes you wonder who is pulling Trump's strings and what's their agenda

The Right always get off on military stuff. Think of Thatcher photographed on a tank or Michael Portillo's SAS speech.
